The failed policies of Democrats have led to spikes in crime and homelessness. Real Estate values will drop as more and more people leave the city, yet they keep re-electing the same people who put them in this jam in the first place
895 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I don't think differences in ideology are so simple. Nor is the nested package in which they're delivered. For cities, a truly liberal approach is necessary, as a conservative approach won't embrace no ideas and methodologies which gives cities a competitive edge. Like the crime in New Orleans is horrendous, East Baton Rouge is about the same, Shreveport follows them, but they're in strategic areas of commerce.
Granted they don't keep up with the times, and the Democrats they elect do not implement truly liberal or new policies that would help those areas, but pieces of popular talking points from popular talking points after the novelty has worn off and they're more detrimental.
The state is conservative, so the damage that can be done is limited, and when crime starts to get outside of those cities, State Troopers and surrounding parishes crack down like a whip with maximum penalties so the problems stay localized.
In that regard, as long as those policies do not become federal, or our taxes rise on a federal or state level to clean up their messes from failed local and state policies, why should we care if someone else succeeds in another ideology or fails? I know that's extremely optimistic as we won't share in successes and will be required to clean up after failures, but it would be nice.

Those failed Democrat policies become federal when Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Phoenix decide the outcome of the electoral college.

@Jamie05rhs No way, detroit is an urban legend like rhode island. You hear about them a lot, but how could such strange places be real?

- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs yes and when the federal government has. to bail out many of these cities that were facing bankruptcy.
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs That's how voting works. The real US is New York and Los Angeles and Houston and Chicago and Phoenix where the people are. It's not Little Rock and Bristol and Knoxville and Joplin.

@Jamie05rhs Many people flock to cities, immigrants and citizens, or their population density wouldn't be so crazy. The biggest problem I see with @slatyb 's statement is discounting the rest of the country because they aren't places with a population density that's through the roof. They just have different focuses, rural areas for food, heavy industry and chemical plants, suburbs for families, cities for commercial, academia, and anything else serving large numbers of people in a relatively small area.
Rural areas may discount cities, but those providing logistics for rural areas will not discount cities as they are a vital link there. Cities may discount rural areas, but the same holds true in reverse concerning logistics. - +1 y
@razelove True. But people in big cities aren't real Americans. Even the ones who were born here. Because they don't even know what America is about. They're just packed in there like sardines, in their urban jungle. A large portion of them have never even been outside of their own neighborhood, let alone outside of the city. They have no idea what is going on in the heart of the country. They know nothing about farming and forests and wildlife. All they know are liquor stores and rats. (Or, for the rich, Starbucks and upscale lounges.).
Oh, and the rich don't even see the rest of the country, either. Even though they have the money and time to do so. Because they go to St. Thomas and Tahiti are the Azores and Bali and Monaco and Dubai. They couldn't care less about America. - +1 y
Why are cities like nmNew York, Chicago, LA, SF and Seattle crime ridden and full of homeless encampment. There are issues with car jacking, murder, assaults and even shoplifting. Liberal DAs don't think shoplifting is a crime, it is just reparations, Wahlgreens, CVS and many other retail chains are closing stores in all these cities because the only people that go in are shoplifters.
- +1 y
Well, I truly believe cities need progressive and liberal ideas to thrive rather than conservative ones (I only lived and a city once). On the other hand, you have Democrat leaders using buzzwords and contradictory ideals to get elected, ultimately thriving off the problems they promised to solve. Most Republicans outside the local level aren't much better. The difference would be the direction they promise they'll go in.
If there was such a huge difference, you wouldn't have people like Marjorie Taylor Greene getting elected. I mean, at the core her ideology is that her own party failed to produce results, but aside from attacking other people, she doesn't promote much besides herself. Still, that career is on a steep upwards trajectory.

But even so, I wasn't talking about Republicans. I was talking about rich people.
+1 ythree main reasons
1. the demographics there. First off they have more queer people than any other borough (6.7% of the population), queer people tend to vote democrat. And only 47% of the population is white and non-white people tend to be more likely to vote democrat too. AND THEN ALSO with more diversity means the non-diverse people hear other perspectives so they consider those altering ideologies more
2. the rich people may actually be part of the reason they back the democrats - these people are heavily in tech and finance industries, industries which tend to be more supportive of government regulation cause it makes their lives easier, the tech industry more than others especially cause it's made up of more diverse people too! Also a lot of these wealthier people have been through higher education and, unlike many other countries where expensive education doesn't really do a lot when it comes to views, in the US a lot of the time higher education leads to more liberal views - or at least the two are correlated. Also, Manhatten is in a city and cities are often more liberal.
3. Just Manhatten's culture, it's more liberal. These people have been raised in a culture where they find more liberal views more appealing.

I mean you are only seeing what you want to see. Top 4 worst city crime rates in America go like this
1. detroit top crime in thecountry that is democrat.
2. Monroe, Louisiana which is republican city.
3. memphis Tennessee democrat.
4. Springfield Missouri is republican.
These are based on last presidential elections.
There doesn't seem to be any correlation to which party your city votes for as to crime rate.
They are literally alternating in the top 4 cities.

So i am now assuming that we now must take an exit interview when we move from one state, to another state?
Because how else could they know why someone chose to move. I know when my auntie left ms to live in GA. She was never questioned as to why she left. And the answer was ga had the job she wanted. - +1 y
And information can be spinned depending on who says it.
"New Yorkers are fleeing the Empire State due to retirement, health, family, lifestyle, a new job, or cost of living, according to United Van Lines."
This moving company put cost of living at the lower part of the reason, and did not put crime as a reason. It felt retirement was top reason, and it makes sense when most retired people pack up and move to Florida - +1 y
@msputiton These states have the most taxes and the most crime and homelessness. Every time you hear about somebody getting pushed onto the subway tracks or car jackings or snatch and grabs it is almost always democrat run cities. The DAs decriminalized shoplifting, drug dealing, simple assault to misdemeanors and do away with cash bail so there is no punishment at all. Then everyone worries when the wheels fall off the wagon.

+1 yThe short answer is money protects money, no matter which party. Wealthy Dems are just a bit more sympathetic and generous towards the poorer folks, whereas Republicans say " hey, someone has to mop the floors".
"Failed Democratic policies?" Wait, is there such a thing as a Republican policy?
Sorry, but lying, demonizing, attempted election tampering, storming the Capitol, calling everything you don't like "woke", failing to understand the economy and kissing the asses of dictators, and banning Dr. Seuss DOESN'T count as policy. However, rolling back safety restrictions on railroad, air quality, water quality, signing oil production agreements to DECREASE them and blame it on your opposition, refusing to oust members of your own party who falsified their candidacy applications, appointing MORONS to lead Committees, etc ad nauseum, DOES count as policy.
Exitseven has all the earmarks of a troll for the right wing nut Christians and the CNP, or just the brains of a Trumper. Or maybe both. And no, I still don't like Biden either, but that's irrelevant.

+1 yWho knows, Democrats think strangely. They say they are for reparations for black people and slavery but I think they should give Manhattan island back to the Natives as an example first, as a smaller test.
Seems they should be all for that to make things right.
Democrats also like crime and being soft on criminals too, they probably see lower property values as a good thing if they have property taxes that drop.
Democrats vote for anyone with a D by their name, they don't care what they stand for.
31 Reply5.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. You should be able to recognize urban areas are very different then rural areas.
If republican run governments standards and statistics happen in 1,000,000+ population area they would have Marshall law. I'm in Alaska (880,000 population) the single most dangerous state to be a woman.
These top ten cities by population are safer for half the population then Alaska state , being New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, Dallas, and San Jose, Calif. 100s of millions democratic rat holes still safer then the average republican standards. It's embarrassing honestly.
Same can be said with every republican states. Half don't have million people but the people their are more dangerous then the millions in any given city.

quite a few of the nyers I know have moved or are in process of moving out.
why others stay... the love city life, diversity, food, convenience, supposed efficiency. You can walk around and not run into problems and ride the train without issue.

Anonymous(18-24)+1 yManhattan real estate never really drops and if it does you buy as much as you can. Manhattan is full of champagne socialists, champagne socialism puts money into the hands of the elites. Between Manhattan and California they support the democrats and are against the electoral college because the popular vote would concentrate all power into the hands of wealthy elites on the east and west coast and the resources the smaller less populous states that are rich in resources and farm land could be better exploited for their benefit.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yYet the urban blue areas are usually the economic engines of the state which subsidize the rural conservative areas. Republican economic policies are a failure. On the federal level, the majority of states that generate more federal revenue than they consume are blue states and they subsidize the poor red states. Rich people tend to stick to affluent urban areas. They don’t want to live in a poor subsidized wasteland.

Opinion Owner+1 yWhat you say isn’t really accurate. Rarely do the major cities have the highest crime rates in the state. Usually smaller towns have that dubious distinction. Conservatives like to focus on the overall number rather than the rate they’re committed as a means of misdirection. Rural people are more likely to live in poverty and receive public assistance than city people. Might want to clean up your own backyard before railing against social programs. As for a supposedly failed school system, rural and city kids test about the same level by graduation. Without the economies in the liberal blue areas, this country would be in bad shape. Republicans policies just do not bring prosperity. They concentrate wealth at the top.

@Anonymous You're wrong about the schools. Urban schools are usually much worse than rural schools.
- +1 y
You are wrong about the schools. In the city where I live there are 2 dozen high schools. The valedictorian from each school were given full scholarships to colleges they wanted to attend.. 5 years later not a single one ifvthem was able to graduate. Most cited that they were behind the other students. In the town that I moved to 97% of students go on to college with a 90% graduation rate.
Opinion Owner+1 yYet some studies show rural schools behind their urban counterparts due to poverty and fewer resources due to lesser property tax revenue. Curious.
+1 yIf you could afford to buy a lot of property wouldn't you look to have the prices as low as possible? Besides, their children will always go to the best private schools, they will always be safe in their homes, and with an influx of illegal immigrants, they can pay slave wages.

My uncle was in the real estate business in New York city. He had mostly apartment buildings. A lot of stuff he owned was in the Bronx. When there was rent control, eventually he could not get enough in rent to cover the property taxes. He could not find anyone who would buy a building under those circumstances and he did not want to hire an arsonist to burn them down although some landlords did just that. He ended up just walking away from the property and let the city take them over.

Never underestimate a democrat's ability to ruin things.
+1 yRich people don’t vote for republicans anymore. Democrats don’t actually raise taxes on the wealthy like everyone assumes. Some of the wealthiest people live in New Jersey and New York and they keep getting wealthier and they are solid blue states. The rich people in Manhattan are unaffected by swings in real estate value. If their apartment drops from $175M to $150M, big deal, they’re still worth $500M.
