Same thing happened to me. All you need to do is just use their pronouns, defend him, listen, and do not tell everyone outside the internet your sibling is trans. There are people who target those who are trans, so remember that. Their new name will never be completely natural for you to use, but it gets easier with time.

If you do not agree with him being trans and are vocal about it, then just understand you'll likely lose a relationship with him, as it will hurt him quite a lot. Also, if you have family members who disagree with it, then don't be a dick to them about it as long as they're not straight up insulting your brother in front of him.

No experience in that close relationships like brother or very good friend. What I heard from trans people, the most important thing to support them is to just accept them in their decision. Let them be and dont treat them special.

Two things you can do for them are:

• Help them when they get attacked which can happen.( verbally attacked)
• Speak with their preferred Pronouns when they are not around. It helps people get accustomed to it. Especially those that are close to them, or generally in contact with them and you.

But maybe trans people can help you more with that.

Have to set something in context as I read it from other and as I said never had it that close to me. Dont out them for people they haven't told themselves or before they decided to make it public. I just somehow assumed this was after they made it public.

Buy scissors and a get well soon card? Ha! Honestly I think just not treating him any different. Like how far he's going to go with that, where it'll wind up, and the final outcome are all part of a journey he's on. All you can do is be what you've always been, just there as family.
It isn't like you can figure out those answers for him/it/they/she/smey, so just roll with it. I mean, it isn't any different than if a family member came out as gay or strongly supporting Warhammer or something.

Don't encourage his mental illness. When he grows out of it (like most do) he will resent you for it cause you were the one who was supposed to know better.
