What would you do if your spouse of many years came out as trans?

Its ha hard thing. Suddenly you're supposed to start using different pronouns with them. If there are kids involved they aren't allowed to call them daddy.. It seems selfish in the extreme to destroy a family like that.

I know if i were in that situation it would be immediate divorce.

I would not want to be with them and talk to them about it thoroughly. See if I can try to convince them to try other factors/methods to handle gender dysphoria before going through with it.

My biggest concern would be that my our kids would be losing a mother figure (if they're minors still) and gaining another father figure who has no idea what it means to be man. Children are very impressionable when growing up, so that would concern me significantly. I know gender dysphoria is very serious and hard to deal with, but you do have to prioritize the kids.

If they're still wanting to continue after trying treatment for gender dysphoria, improving life habits, and all of that, then I wouldn't hold it against them. At that point I'd assume they would probably end up killing themselves if they didn't transition.

Exactly. I'd also push for full custody of the kids as in my opinion she is no longer fit to be a parent.

But if they came out as trans... I don't know how i deal with it. years of knowing this bish and she's just a shell of how she really was in the first place. Also I ain't having kids so that makes it a lighter blow but still... i can't just accept it like that. you feel like you know someone and then they speak of nonsense like this... or the deep down truth, you don't accept it immediately and without conditions. :c

Honestly I’d be kind of pissed. You don’t just suddenly start having the feeling that you’re in the wrong body overnight. If my spouse came out as trans, he would have been deliberately keeping those feelings from me for years, and I would be angry he deceived me.

It's bad if family get ruined because of mental illness. Immediate divorce if we have children is not an easy thing, children tend to bind people more than anything else, I would try to convince to become a tomboy instead of trans, I would tell that a female can never become a true man. I might allow her to have a short hair, but if she start ruin her body it's a dealbreaker.
