Why are British people so smart?

Are they? I haven't seen anything to suggest they are different from average. Americans do think the upper class British accent is "educated" , maybe because in the past there were are lot of documentaries made by the British Broadcasting Service

In the uk we tell our idiots to shut the fuck up and go play with crayons. Sure they can spout their verbal diarrhoea among themselves but we don't let them speak for the rest of us. When it comes to our public face we put our best people forward. This is in contrast to America which does the exact opposite.

But I say this as a Turkish person. Your average is much better than ours, and you contributed a lot to the world. In my hotel, there are 700 English people now.

In what sense? If you mean with words then I would definitely agree. Brits tend to be more clever and cunning with speech and word play.
