I will accept a 'machine' (or any other existence) as a being with human-like ''rights'' when it fulfills my three basic requirements:

- a self understanding as an individual and singular existernce (or ''life form'').

- the ability to actively wish for or to want for; or not to

- the ability to continuously interact and to communicate with other beings out of own initiative

Presently, I have doubts that ''Sophia'' fully qualifies for this.

As for a barbarian desert country: they cannot be my guiding line in questions about civilization.
