There has been more mass shootings than days in 2023. Do you think this sounds legit or like propaganda fake news?

It's like when the Brady Campaign announced that there had 140 something school shootings since Sandy Hook and mainstream journalists sought to verify the number. They came up with different numbers but all were between one to two dozen, which is a far cry from 10 dozen.
Come to find out, the Brady Campaign had included any discharge of a firearm within a school zone.
For example, one was a guy who parked in a deserted school parking lot in the middle of the night one weekend. He was suicidal and called 911. By the time the police arrived, he had shot himself in the head.
One was an accidental discharge of a firearm by a school security office. The bullet hit the ground and no one was injured.
Another was an accidental firearm discharge by a female school official in an office in which no one was injured.
One was a gang-related drive by at a basketball court at night when no children were present.
Many of the gun discharges or shootings were at night and not even near a school.

So, basically, the Brady Campaign was using its own definition of "school shooting" to inflate the numbers and make it sound like school children were constantly being threatened or shot.

I suspect that this "mass shooting" claim is similar. "Shooting" doesn't have to mean that any deaths occurred. Most of it is probably gang related. Some is probably familicide. But the intent it to give the impression that the general public is never safe.

When you take into account this definition, cities like New York and Chicago, and the reality of how easy it is to acquire deadly weapons, this statistic would not surprise me.

This month in the US, people were shot for ringing the wrong doorbell, getting into the wrong car, using a leaf blower, delivering food to the wrong address, driving into the wrong driveway, and for asking a neighbour to stop shooting, so a baby could sleep.
