I fully understand that personal oppressive debt inhibits the economy overall because a person is servicing their debt instead of buying products. This is especially so with young people who need to make infrastructure purchases (car, home, appliances, linens, cookware, etc) to get their lives off the ground. This is why the 25-54 market is the most prized advertising demographic.

So, in other words, the money that would have been paid on debt would instead be injected into the ecomony through purchases across industries. Money paid on debt isn't distributed so evenly and often just help the rich get richer. You never meet a poor banker.

I make 700 a week after with a 60% income tax that means I pay 420 bucks. I pay 140 bucks into Social Security. Which means I would get 1120 then rent 1,000 I get 120. So you’re saying when add up over a year. I get 1440 bucks to spend on whatever the fuck I want and the government gets the rest of it, and given the fact that I’m not going to ever see Social Security I’m paying into a fight, and I will never see. Explain to me how I’m supposed to raise a wife and kids on 120 bucks a month for food tampons, toiletries everything humans need to survive. That’s just on 60% tax. With just us the taxes and Social Security alone that leaves me 140 bucks for the week, but less than 1000 for the rent so I wouldn’t even be able to afford to make care of my family. I live in the middle of nowhere we need gas to get from place to place. So what? Am I supposed to rely on mommy and daddy Governments? Am I not suppose to have a family?

People like my dad who makes 250,000 a year pay 31% in taxes a year he makes up about 10% of Americans (Hollywood and athletes are in the 5% range). Then there's the price of college tuition. A major review needs to be done on why it's so high and how much money are colleges wasting. Also needs to be a review on whether college students are getting their money's worth in college.

No. I don't support it. I made an agreement when I signed the documents for these loans and my signature is binding. Why should any of you have to repay MY debt? Why should the rest of my country have to carry MY burden? There is no "free" tuition. There is no "forgiveness". The government pays off the loan holders then sucks money from it's citizens to pay for it. That's not forgiveness, that's redistribution.

I have a lot of student debt. I graduated 12 years ago and just recently went below the half-way point on my balance. It's my debt, my problem, my responsibility. Unfortunately most people in my position only think of themselves. They're feel entitled to "free stuff". Again, nothing's free. It's just redistribution.

No it's horrible. it's not something taxpayers should have to pay for, It doesn't wipe out a large enough amount to be able to help most people with student loans, it's massively unfair to people who paid their full debt (how would you feel if you had made your last loan payment a year before this went into effect?), a $10,000 loan can easily be paid off by someone making over $125,000 (you're not paying the full amount in one year), and there are better ways to do it such as allowing bankruptcy for student loans in cases where it's appropriate (they took that away in 2005).

I paid my way through college without loans I got financial aid yes but there I difference between that and loans that someone is going to have to pay. The root problem is that we are sending too many kids to college when other forms of education like trade schools would make more sens. Its a form of elitism where we view jobs that require a college degree as "higher status" than jobs that done - even though they often pay less.
