I imagine food would probably be up there with water. People would kill each other over food. I saw this news report not long ago and they were saying more people steal food from stores than anything. Poverty is higher than it's ever been.

Employment isn't the issue.
1 out of 3 people can't afford to buy food. 18 out of every 10,000 are homeless. I volunteer at shelter and it's never been this full. Employment isn't an issue. Poverty is the issue. People aren't making enough money.

Nobody wants to work because employers aren't paying enough and a lot of the good paying jobs are shutting down. A single person would have to make $21 an hour just to get by and a family, $32 an hour. I don't see many employers paying that, unless it's a corporate job or a factor job. Where I live, the highest paying job is a dollar general for $10 an hour. Most people here have 2 or 3 jobs anyway.
Walmart is shutting down a number of stores also. I don't know the statistics for them though. I'll check the handbook when I'm volunteering next.
