It was more than that. The American culture, following the shabby 60's protest/counter culture gave way to a cooling off period before advancing into the Disco/New Wave musical social period when people took a shower and dressed again up to go out. The brightness, hope and prosperity extended across all races and groups from 1980 until it came to a crashing halt with a 1-2 punch; the election of Barack Obama followed by the "911" terrorist attacks. So maybe 1980 to 2009 was the best period in recent history. We have been in deep decline since Obama's election.

A time of terror, rising government authoritarianism, and a looming war? No. No, I don't think that.
Of course, that was in the US; elsewhere, it might've been just dandy, though with an angry American population and a jingoistic moron at the head of the world's largest military, I doubt anyone felt particularly secure.
I think this year is a happy year in my life. I had higher joys as a child but I had lower traumas and disappointments too.
That’s when I was a young child…a carefree & happy little girl. So yes it was the best time.

No; I'd say the early to late 90's.
The period of time between the end of the cold war, and the beginning of the "war on terror". Basically from 1992 through 2000.
Nah the mid to late 90's it was the rise of the internet. I was fresh out of high school. The Chicago Bulls were winning championships. Life felt like one big party and had endless possibilities.
NO. Are you fucking serious?
We had a decade+ of war living in a post-9/11 world!Lmao, sandwiched between 9/11 and the '08 global financial meltdown?
Yyeeeeaaaah...Late 90s was the best time during my lifetime, with the 1990s in general.
I truly do. I enjoyed 2000-2002
