How would you survive the hunger games?

I'd start by going into the woods rather than go into the cornucopia. Everybody's falling for the temptation to run in and get a weapon. Makes sense, except the guy to your right, left, back, and front, all had the same idea.

There's too many people in there to defend yourself as they're coming from every direction. A backpack, if it isn't in the cornucopia itself, I might grab that, but if not, I'd head straight for the woods, find some rocks, and nap them together to make a knife, then get to work.

I'd lay low for a bit, long enough to make a spear and keep myself fed before fighting someone on my own terms rather than the chaotic bloodbath that was waiting for us all in the beginning.

I'd avoid fighting as much as I can, trying to outlast other tributes. While Cato may have been strong in the beginning, his anger problems, stupidity, his inability to scavenge and keep himself from infection will wear him down a lot. While my abilities will degrade a lot less overtime.

I'd keep scouting others, watching them as they weaken, sabotage their supplies when possible, and come in to finish them once they're at their weakest.

You may say that it's a scummy way of competing, I say it's just smart and it's no less scummy than Cato running into the bloodbath knowing there will be confused, shocked children waiting to be killed there by him.
