They kill your own troops, civilians and animals. They leave land uninhabitable for hundreds of years.
I hear in Ukraine Russian troops are driving over their own landmines.

Not particularly no. But that is because I believe in a more modern doctrine of war where mines simply dont have a place to begin with.
Sadly, this would not solve the problem in question since mines are not the major problem. More specifically, unexploded ordinance is. Things like artillery shells that lands in soft ground and fail to explode for example or god forbid you use cluster munition. These are harder to eliminate from your doctrine but mines are pretty much redundant in modern combat.
To make things clear, the war in Ukraine is not what I would call "modern combat".
There is STILL the occasional story of a French farmer being blown up by an artillery shell fired during the first World War that never detonated, and that conflict ended a century ago.
If you're going to act like a civilized country, then FIGHT like one; if not, just use your nukes and have done with it ("it" being human civilization). Quit trying to pretend that you're better than you are. Either BE better or don't bother.
Yes for anti vehicle mines which don't explode when a person steps on them. Those mines aren't often even hidden after drop from an artillery or aircraft canister.
No to anti personnel mines, because those mines kill more civilians than combatants.

War is.. war. It is supposed to be brutal, deadly, and horrifying. Part of that experience is the aftermath of the war. If you don't want land mines hidden around your countryside, giving diplomacy another shot may be the best solution.
well I want war without landmines but whatever
Nope I do not and Russias troops are probably running over them as their military isn't working as a unified force they are split into multiple groups and don't like sharing information with each other as whatever side does the most damage to Ukraine gets a bonus thus encouraging the army to sabotage each other which I find hilarious
They can be extremely useful. Chances are, the moment your country goes to war, not a war somewhere far away, but a war on your border, most of the people who now don't support the use of various weapons will be among those calling for more mines to be placed, cluster munitions to be used, and prisoners not to be taken.
Little of this is true of modern land mines. They don't last for 100s of years, they're set to automatically deactivate after a certain period, and we can always go back and just pick them up.
Now just dropping them out of a plane and saying "Well F it..." isn't the right answer, but they serve a purpose. They're also typically set to require more weight than an animal is going to put on it. A cow would still set it off. A fox would not.
they have mines that don't explode unless humans go near them. OK modern mines deactivate but what about old ones still there.
Yeah old ones are horrible.
Yes...
