Why are conservatives so terrified of the state owning the means of production? why does it scare you to be ruled by the popular majority vote?

Why does it bother you that the state owns the means of production, I mean conservatives always say that workers owning the means of production always leads to oppression but unchecked capitalism can also lead to slavery and the greed of exploiting workers so the government keeping a check on greedy wannabe slave owners is also not a bad idea.

As far as the average citizen is concerned, the state will be able to determine whether you live or die at that point. It doesn't matter what the philosophy behind the screwing, you're screwed and there will be nothing you can do about it and they'll do it to you because you can't do anything about it.

A state that seizes all personal property under the illusion it will produce the same results and divide the benefits equally will inevitably fail at it, produce less, and reduce everyone's standard of living. Venezuela is living proof. It was one of the richest countries in South America 30 years ago before socialism wrecked it.
