I favor supporting people that are experiencing financial difficulties for reasons beyond their control. Wherever possible it should be temporary until the recipients get back on their feet and are provided with assistance to do that. I also feel there needs to be checks and balances in place to ensure these support systems are not taken advantage of by those who simply don't want to work.

I think it's a good thing. But I also think that everyone should be drug tested. This could be a very powerful weapon in winning the war on drugs, if it is used effectively.

I also think that the welfare system should be integrated with the community college system, so people have a pathway out of poverty.

Its simple - If they reduce the money they give pharmacies by half, reduce the money they give mental health professionals by 2/3s and reduce the money they give lawyers by 2/3 they would have tons of money to help people on welfare cause in my city, rent in a one bedroom apartment costs 3 times more than a welfare check which is supposed to cover not only rent but also food and living expenses. I heard psychiatrists make over 600,000 a year so if you reduce that amount, that is 200 welfare checks for 200 people.

I also heard that a hearing aid costs $30 to make and costs over $1,000 to buy so the government could build massive savings by regulating how much medical companies make off their drugs or medical tools. Also on welfare, you're not allowed to save enough money to buy a car, so if people can't save enough to buy their own house or apartment, they will be trapped on welfare forever. It's a punitive system to dissuade people from going jobless and not a healing or accommodating one for those who need it to live.

If you are on welfare and own a car you will be ineligible for benefits. The rationale being you should sell the car to buy food.

It's very flawed the problem is the gov't is a broadsword not a scalpel. I lost my job and my Healthcare through that job so I after my cobra ended I was seeking an affordable Healthcare. I contacted a gov't entity called "navigator... something". And they told me due to my current lack of income I qualified for medicaid. I have a retirement, a savings, yes I have no income at the moment but I'm far from destitute. And I told her this. And she said I still qualified. I didn't think that was right. Because I felt medicaid should be for people who had NO OPTIONS. I was just searching for something affordable for my situation. Now in my position what would you do? The point I'm making is under thier paraneters a guy could have a million dollars (I'm not that well off🤣). And still qualify if he's not earning an income. That's kind of f'ed up if you ask me. Now I know there aren't many people with a million dollars not earning an income I'm just trying to point out how flawed an inefficient the gov't is. And in my opinion it's because the gov't doesn't much concern itself with waste, only budget. And if they run out of money... no problem. We'll just raise taxes. Which just hurts everyone including some of the hard working poor people you seek to help.

It's important. There are a lot of people in need of it that aren't able to work. It does get abused, and when I was staying in the homeless shelter, people would sell their food stamps for cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, and rides places. It's trade in a lot of places apparently.

In my state, they are making people work for food stamps now, so hopefully it cuts down on fraud. If people have to work for something, they may end up getting a job to pay for all those things, rather than sell them.

Last year I almost died, and I was in need of insulin, and I would have died if I wouldn't have received health insurance through the state. I was in the hospital for days, and I lost my job, which you lose your job, your health Insurnace goes, so it did me a favor, but I think there needs to be a lot of improvements. Some people milk the system and fraud the hell out of them.

That they should give me more money lol.
But in all seriousness, I don't see any issues with it. Yeah sure some people abuse it, some people could be forced to work harder but at the end of the day for each person who don't work there is 10 who do. And for each slacker like myself lol there is 100 that aren't.
It's proven in psychology studies that people are driven to work whether they know that or not. As humans have a need to be kept busy, most would get depressed if they just sat around doing nothing.
Hell even myself who's very adverse to work and loves to just write what I want, play video games and watch stuff is depressed. I use such things to cope and naturally if I had job I am sure it would help my mental state out better but my conscious mind always goes no thank you.

I think like any drug administered, it has problems. If ya get whacked in a car accident bad, then might need some morphine and drugs... but ya don't want to be on that stuff forever, don't work.

Thus the problem with the system. Add to it, it is government, all sorts of laws, the relaity of managing humans whom often have emotional/trauma issues that must be dealt with before they can function... and it ends up being a mess and creating more messes.

It really needs to be administered... like morphine...

In general, it's necessary and way over abused by lazy people to the detrement of others.

I agree that some people need help, but government welfare breaks up families and discourages people from working. That is what Democrats want. They want dependent serfs and actually want no new children and for people to depopulate due to the climate change hoax.

Government assistance does nothing but encourage people to not do for themselves. Yes you need a program for those that truly need it. However the government makes a habit of forming a situation where people need the assistance on mass so the people never can or want to do for themselves. The oldest experiment with this in the US was with the Indians/Natives (depending on what you prefer). Then they carried it over to the black community after the 60's and have convinced blacks that live in the hood that they need government assistance because the system is against them.

Both programs where put in place by Democrats in the US.

I mean, when the government stops bailing out multi million dollar corporations and businesses for any little crisis, then I will be inclined to agree that welfare and government assistance to people is not the greatest deployment of our resources. But yeah, individuals are the ones struggling to make ends meet and families… so as long as there is a struggle there should be help for those people. Regardless of job or employment status.

It should be limited to citizens only. There should be some kind of work requirement and a time limit for eligibility. It should not be a career goal for democrat voters.

Government's main duty is to work for the socio-economic welfare of the society. Unfortunately, government's are more inclined towards the big corporations and poor people. Middle class people pay higher taxes with no benefits.
