Do people really want to be brutally honest or do they just want to say whatever they want without consequences?

I think most people just want a reason to say brutal, unkind stuff to others without any consequences. We live in a world where folks aren't actually interested in giving any honest, serious advice or thoughts, they just want to say whatever is snarkiest, rudest, cruelest, or dumbest, for whatever they can get out of it. And especially being anonymous on the Internet.

Trust me, they know the consequences of being honest. This is why so many people are dishonest, less that truthful, or just less than forthcoming. Hiding or ignoring a fact doesn’t make it go away, it’s still there but just unaddressed.
