I thought aerosols were destroying the ozone layer. What changed? They want to block out the sun to stop climate change. I thought plants liked sun and carbon dioxide.

I think it's unnecessary and will probably turn out to be a very bad idea even if it's not obvious now.
It's worth noting that I know next to nothing about this particular plan. But climate policies have an absolutely disastrous track record. Politicians making wrong conclusions, funding people whos opinions they agree with introducing more and more bias into an already divisive area of science and deploying ideas that don't work yet (or ever) on massive scale to then try to adjust them on the fly.
They often directly admit human flourishing is secondary and will be sacrificed as necessary to achieve political rargets.
Example recently would be banning combustion engine cars without having any kind of a real plan how to achieve electrification within the same timeframe. This will destroy the european economy if passed and will not achieve the proposed climate goal regardless.
My default position these days is always an absolute no to anything like this and it will take a lot of convincing to make me believe that this time, they actually did think it through.
It's a scam.
You should learn to read better. Old aerosols had many ozone depleting substances , most new ones don't. Just as cars used to run on leaded petrol, now they don't
Also, it's only a theoretical proposal at the UN. There is little evidence it will work, let alone the cost to make such a thing possible.
It's whole premise is the one time Mount Pinatubo eruption. It was observed to have released enough sulphur dioxide to lower global temperature by 0.5%. Obviously it could be something else, but the team needs funding to "explore" the idea and make sure.
The one way to do it is with articles, like the one you failed to read properly.
Doing that won't block the sun lol that'll kill the ozone layer and make the sun's UV rays much worse, even life ending
It's a money-making scheme, and people will believe it if it's attached to climate change.

If you want to reduce food production and starve millions to death it makes perfect sense. That is a goal of the World Economic Forum.
People will buy into it.
Aerosols also previously had a major impact on the ozone layer which allowed most UV-B and UV-C light to impact earth... You know the hole in the ozone layer... UV-C induced mutagenesis is a well understood concept... So you know, if you wanted your population to suffer a major outbreak of cancer and then die that would be one way to go about it.
Excellent questions. I'd think long and hard about what you mentioned. The effects on agriculture could be devastating.
I heard about it on the news. The scientst want all countries to do it. We know China and India won't do it, and Europe would expect America to pay for theirs. It's just another climate change hoax like carbon credits.
aerosol is describing matter in the air. Like clouds being matter (called water vaper) flouting in the air. Depending on what matter we could restore our climate or destroy our climate.
Common delivery of aerosol is Propellants. Those chemicals are historically bad for the ozone. liquefied gas like butane, isobutane, or propane.
Aerosol just means stuff floating in the air.
Also plants need sunlight, co2 and water, im really specific dosis, some plants will die with too much sunlight, some plants will die with too much water,... more doesn't mean better.
It depends on what’s in the aerosol dummy. We do have a large hole in the ozone layer. If they figured out how to plug that shit, that’s a lot of ultraviolet light we can filter out.
I have no idea what you're talking about. Where are you getting this information?
ooh a korean film a couple years ago!
Can't they just build a giant sun screen
Sounds like a brilliantly stupid idea.
Very.
