Political differences and views can be explained by differing view of "reality". Does that make sense to you?

A work associate once made that comment to me regarding a discussion we had during political debate, and the many times angry, and sometime violent, exchanges. I have never been able to digest and accept that explanation, in that we all live on the same planet, and live with the same 'reality'. I can only see, a view that wants to ALTER the reality we all live with. No matter how we try, we will always have the very rich, and also the not-so-rich and the poor.

We have seen revolutions, where the 'poor' rose up and revolted and basically destroyed the means that they had to make a living... destroyed their own employment, and in Europe, killed their employers.

What is your 'view of reality' and how does it effect the quality of your life? How can you change or alter it to your benefit?

There will always be Rick, middle class and poor. I agree. The rich though need to be controlled as to not run wild over the rest of the people. C Level people at major companies make too much for what they contribute but the Boards of today do not keep them in check because they are getting in on the action as well. The rise of casual investing through index funds and mutual funds has allowed that to happen.

The middle class is getting squeezed and politicians are not caring anymore. We need to get term limits and stop huge inflows of cash from overseas and companies. Bring it back to individuals again. We also need to stop allowing politicians to get away with corruption such as taking money and still being in office. It happens right in front of us.

Yes help the poor but many don’t want help, they want to live as they are. Help doesn’t mean a 3 be house and a 100k a year though. So many job training programs fail and waste money, so many public housing projects end up a mess and crime ridden. It’s a shame.

Better voting will make a better life for all. Not everyone will be a winner though.

As you understood from my question, I did not advocate the poor being continually walked over and exploited, nor do I see any advancement for the poor by rioting and destroying the means of employment that they do have. I just felt it was a legitimate question, and did not mean to infuriate anyone. Thanks again.

there's only one reality and that can only be seen by stripping away all the social media, all the entertainment and all the false hope and goodwill and observe everything around objectively

human beings are still animals at the end of the day with biological needs and impulses and our actions reflect that. we're much closer to chimpanzees still than we are to robots. humans still judge each other by their looks, money, status, capabilities etc. and react according via the Halo Effect/Devil Effect which has been ingrained into us for millions of years as a safety measure

while we can watch people dance and have fun at a park, somewhere in that same park there's a butterfly getting shredded by a praying mantis or a bird munching on a spider. now these might not affect us at the end of the day but from their POV it is absolutely terrifying. turning a blind eye to the "negative" is easy but it doesn't mean it don't exist

What your example sounds like to me is poor people should shut the fuck up, take the abuse and allow themselves to be exploited in exchange for a few pennies. That poor people don't deserve rights. It's similar to the ancient Greek plays that were shown to slaves and the low paid to encourage them to work harder and not seek better conditions. We see the same throughout history, sermons in church telling people to obey their masters and anti socialism speeches in America.
