I rather not. Just me tho. I mean sure, people can get crazy but the ones who go crazy with power first are those with guns. And knowing the thing that could kill me is some guy who supports open carry but could be the one who kills me or someone gets the gun off of him doesn't let me eat my pizza in peace. :c
Yes!
It's fucking stupid and dangerous.
Statistically, it causes a lot of crime and insecurity.
Mainly, as if people see redneck fuckwits open carrying, then they will as well. Not to protect against "criminals," but against fuckwit rednecks.
If people see you are packing they will leave you alone

Personally, I prefer concealed because I don't like letting the bad guys know ahead of time who they need to take out, so while I find open carry tactically unsound, sometimes that's all you can do. Neither bothers me. I'm sure plenty of people have shivs/knives on them and could sneak up behind me and slit my throat. I'm also sure that's pretty unlikely to happen.
I concerns me because it seems to demonstrate someone has a poor understanding of risks and so I don't trust their judgement. The odds of needing a gun are a lot less than the odds of needing a first aid kit.
So why are they carrying? To show of how macho they are? Because they are afraid and need reassurance?
Not only is a gun uncomfortable to carry, you are at risk of it being stolen if you leave it in your car. Why go to all that effort?
@richardcory So you carry both, open carry however is more about deterrence, and yes demonstrating you are a protector.
Carrying a first Aid kit while perhaps uses-full, is not as valuable given the wide availability of such kids in public facilities already. Also as you say, there is little effort to secure such first-aid kits because it makes little difference who has access to them.
Where as a gun does in fact need to be more restricted to the protector who can and is able to use it, hence the need for them to carry it.
@richardcory I've "needed" as you say, my sidearm three times. It couldn't wait. I've never needed a first aid kit with any urgency, to include the time I pulled a lady out of her car after a wreck. So while statistically you may be correct, anecdotally I've found the opposite to be true, and that anecdote also kept me from "needing the first aid kit afterwards", shall we say.
I don't like it. I had someone pull one on me in Wal-Mart. All I did was bump into them with the basket. Perfectly innocent, can happen to anyone. I apologized and the husband drew on me. Wife was embarrassed and told him to put it away and he was an idiot. She apologized to me.
@mansearching
Well, that would be illegal and there's more cameras in walmart than vegas, so it'd be recorded. Did you press charges, or just making the story up?
@BoopBoopBeep not in Texas. Open carry is legal. If they felt threatened its legal.
@mansearching
pulling a gun on someone is a use of force. if it isn't' justified to shoot someone it isn't' justified to point a gun at them, which is why I'm not buying this story. Everyone that ever pointed a gun at me left in handcuffs or a gurney, because they were either legally able to do it or they weren't.
I have licensed concealed carry in Tx because one of my addresses is there. "If I felt threatened" is not sufficient cause.
@BoopBoopBeep Now you don't have to have that license. Sorry if you don't believe. Your choice not to. Reason I didn't report is because she apologized and to much b. s. to go through. Didn't need that in my life just like now. If I see someone carring I leave the building. Sad to say but they're more dangerous than the criminals. Because they're more trigger happy.
I am totally supportive of open or concealed carry. Nut job, wanna be mass shooters aren’t going to places with potential resistance (people who are armed and who might fight back). This is why most mass shootings occur in gun free or gun restricted zones…. no or little chance of resistance. The bad people don’t care about any laws……
No they are obviously doing it with the intent of intimidating people.
I agree
I've lived my whole life without ever thinking about or worrying about getting shot and I'm very glad to keep it that way. But if all Americans with guns want to kill each other the world will be a better place.
Depends on the person. If they seemed sketchy, then I'd be worried for peoples safety. Or if they were quick to anger. But if they're a calm person who seems very protective & safe to be around, I wouldn't mind.
Do not really know their mindset, why do they carry, to look big, to be a hero, are they trained to shoot. So no not really, I spent 8 years in the army, I know there are too many ready to be showoff that do not have the skills. If open carry required a skills test I would be more comfortable
No problem. One time I massaged a policeman and all he could worry about was removing his firearm. SInce I was only working his shoulders, I just had him keep it on him- holstered- rather than have a loose gun flopping around.
Better openly carrying than hidden carry, but i rather don't want guns in public.
There is nothing wrong with it. Police do it all the time around you, yet you've probably never freaked out over that.
I think concealed carry is hypocritical.
Covering the gun somehow makes you appear unarmed.
I'd say if you're gonna carry just own it
It may deter some common criminals but it will just make you the first target for others.
Yes but they should wear a proper gunbelt and also a stetson so you can identify them at a distance.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/4lnTbEwrOdUYeah, I think it’s better to open. Carry an open carry a shot gun if it was legal in my state.
No, America is too gun obsessed as it is, the last we need is revert back to the wild wild west days.
I think it's a little weird but yeah. Of course there's a difference between walking down the street with a sidearm and toting an assault rifle.
Yes and no. Yes, if the person is extensively trained and not a wannabe. Unfortunately too many who have no idea what they are doing go about like that.
If they're gonna carry, it better be open and not hidden.
No, only known criminals should be allowed to open carry.
Nope most people who do that at my job look like have a hard on for the 1870s and couldn't read a no entry sign
I am absolutely NOT ok with this. It is deliberately provocative and meant to be intimidating, and for those reasons it is dangerous.
Yes, as long they have a license.
Hell no! They might use it. Not to mention that fact that its illegal here.
Simples...
Where I grew up it was normal. A few rifles in the rack of the truck, sometimes a hand gun in the holster on the dash.
I don't see the need for it, especially now that any idiot can get a gun in too many states.
Of course. I grew up in the South. LOL It’s not a big deal.
Ya’ll are wound waaaaaay too tight.
For whatever reason, I just don’t care. Doesn’t even make me think twice.
Yea so I can be careful
No, not a fan of that
No, I wouldn't. I don't even like guns
I open carry everyday
Yeap, I do it
Yep.
