I don’t follow low politics closely, so I haven’t heard. I see little chance that any candidate will be able to break the iron-clad grip the current ruling elites have on the bureaucracies and on every important social institution in this country. I hate to break it to mainstream conservatives, but Trump failed to drain the swamp once and I see no reason to think he has the discipline and willingness to risk everything (remember Chuck Schumer’s veiled threat about the intelligence services) to do what would have to be done. The reality is that the president is a ceremonial figure that at best is allowed to decide on matters that are not addressed by existing bureaucratic process or put a spanner in the works by blocking new legislation. This is not how the presidency was intended to be, but protects the interests of oligarchs the elected official with theoretical unitary executive power very nicely.

I agree that he has a right to a speedy trial, but you have to understand that his lawyers negotiated the date that the judge ordered and it would be very difficult to make it I realize you think it would be to Trump's advantage, but in fact I don't think it would be. Additionally, the Democrats are not prosecuting him. The department of is. Those are two separate things or agencies. The Democrats are a political party. The justice department is a department of the federal government which is neither democratic or republican.

My understanding is that the prosecutors wanted to happen very quickly and his lawyers of course wanted it to happen after the election. So the judge decided to kind of split the difference and it turns out that May landed right in the middle of where the two opposing sides wanted it. I think she was trying to be fair and that is commendable.

Having experienced the inefficient monstrosity that is the justice system, I can tell you that very few cases proceed quickly, justice is slow…glacially slow, the system is rigged to allow numerous delays that benefit attorneys, the wealthy, and corporate litigants, and there is often little justice in the justice system.

There is even a high level DOJ operative who was placed in the New York's DA's office to help Alvin Bragg prosecute Trump. This would never happen if it was not Trump that they were going after.

Why did Trump agree to appoint Bill Barr, a known deep state operative whose career involved providing legal cover or “fixing” things for the intelligence agencies and the son of a man who taught Blinken and many other elites in a private school? This was an obvious potential enemy of Trump. At least get someone reasonably neutral from outside the DC cesspool. It was total incompetence or worse. The current admin knows better and installed Garland, who has a record of punishing enemies, helping friends, and two-track enforcement of the law.

But having won once, according to the infamous Time Magazine article they organized a “cabal” that “fortified” the election.
