Americans aren't White though, the Native Americans certainly not.

But the African is right, Most African Americans have little link to Africa, as their villages were razed and their families killed, with survivors brought over as slaves. They are more American than African. Just like you get White Americans claiming to be "English" or "Irish" despite never being there, and having no real family link there.

If you were born in Africa, you are African. The continent is not not a race, it is a land mass. Lands in Africa have been held by many different groups of people. If you are Black and were born somewhere else than Africa, then you're not African. You're just Black.

There are lots of black Americans. There's a small proportion of white Africans, too, especially in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Both exist and both are therefore possible. It does not make sense denying either of them.
