We are planning to visit Thailand next year for many reasons.
We like Thai food. The beach is beautiful. Things are cheaper. I also like to meet people from different parts of the world. I like some aspects of their culture. I had a very good friend from Thailand in my early 20s. but lost contact.

I reckon they have a fair distance to a clean beach. I have read, that the immediate beach at Pattaya is pretty much contaminated with waste. How sad.

Phuket is expensive.
I am considering shifting towards being a digital nomad in Thailand.
I choose Pattaya for (1) being a beach city, (2) cheap. Very cheap. And good. One can live in a good condo for under $300 (or EUR), (3) being near Bangkok in case I need to do something administrative there e. g. with the embassy of my homeland.

I ordered a beer in an open-air bar in Pattaya. A bar girl sat next to me and was crying.

I was on the beach in Pattaya and talked to a guy who was from Vegas. He goes to Pattaya five times per year.

I told you to move North to Chiang Mai. You will meet the girl of your dreams. But you keep talking about Pattaya, and I get it. Let's not pretend you like Pattaya for the beach. lol
