Why do people say that the USA is an individualist country when it actually isn't?

Why do people say that the USA is an individualist country when the reality is that there are no individualist countries because humans are social animals and all countries, like all forms of human society, are collectivists?

American adolescents, especially American teens will do the most disgusting immoral things just to fit in.

Out of all young people from all countries, American adolescents, especially American teens are the most prone when it comes to disobeying their parents in order to obey peer pressure.

I think it comes from what the community stands for, the question of “why” they are a community. America for example has a lot of strikes and petitions in i guess social differences. Some of the examples are veganism, LGBTQ+, abortion, feminism, religion etc. And personally from the way they portray their opinion its very attack-y. “if you dont agree you're a bad person”. they seem to have a hard time understanding and accepting that thinking differently doesn't mean always mean people spread hate. They stand very strongly in their individual opinion as a community, each “community” is very individualistic and cliquey and seem very quick to express hate on someone who does not agree. they are somewhat a community but its a community that dictates what they believe should be the right way to live. It is a very extremist POV which can lead to very good things and also very bad things. It is also a culture that encourages people to do what they want to do, which can mean very good and very bad again. In this way it is individualistic. Whereas in Asian cultures, the “why” factor for community is very different. I’ve live in both places and it is true. People dont really understand it until they experience it themselves. Cultural differences is amazing.

And about American adolescents, in my opinion American teens the most desperate because they dont feel loved or as fit in as maybe in another more loving culture. So as humans, being deprived of a natural desire makes us do certain things. The American culture is emotional abuse honestly in my opinion, its sad to me. Its kill or be killed, whoever gets the last laugh, cheat or get cheated. No one really truly looks out for you in america. Its degenerate and sad when human beings can do so much more when our minds are at peace and we care for each other.

Cliques are not a form of individualism.

True individualism comes from the individual. Not the group.

You are not a true individualist if you are commanded by a group or clique.

But people fighting for LGBTQ and veganism don't represent the majority of Americans. They are minorities.

Also, feminism and abortion are widely accepted by the majority of the American population so I don't know why you call feminists and defenders of abortion as individualists.

Because the United States defeated the British Empire to secure our freedom we were the first real independent western country built on freedom of religion (not really a secular country) this idea unlocked the untapped potential of individual expression. Socially we have the same problems EVERY country has. But the United States is an idea, a belief. That regardless of race, color, or creed through hard work and perseverance a better life can be attained. That is the true strength of the United States. And it is WHY we are considered an individualist country.
