+1 yI'm not actively ashamed of things I haven't done, but I'm sure as shit not proud of what this country's (USA) white supremacist, male entitled government has done at many times throughout its history. There have been some great moments, but a whole shit ton of horrific acts too. Sadly, it's not improving but getting worse on the government level as the populace gets dumbed down to oblivion and the wealth gaps grow wider and wider.

@strateguy632 Oh screw off. I'm not even a Biden fan, but what's been accomplished despite the idiot before him and the jerk off Republicans in Congress is astonishing.
- +1 y
@loveslongnails lmao idc about different sides in politics and think it's kinda dumb that people can't get along, but I've gotta point out that during biden everything has skyrocketed in price. Like bro food, gas, cars, insurance etc
I'm not a Biden hater but idt his administration is doing us any huge favors rn - +1 y
This is not about the current president or the previous one. It is more about inherent flaws in capitalism that people refuse to admit to or modify and the resulting economic inequality that is tearing this country apart. It's time we realized that we have adopted economic policies that are completely untenable and unsustainable.

@Z1pTD But you "think" it would have been different under Trump, don't you? You "think" the supply chain breakdown, Covid, worldwide labor issues, droughts in food producing areas, and the biggest one... wait for it... corporate greed, would have miraculously been different?
Do you think old Donald would have told all the major corporations and oil companies they have to lower their prices and be content with less billions in profits, because it was hurting the "hard working blue collar and middle class people of the grand old USA?" Do you actually think Trump would rolled back import taxes on foods and goods?
You need to pay attention to WHO has been making RECORD profits now and WHO AND WHAT these companies own and control and get off your Fox/MTG/Boebert echo box. COVID was a huge contributor to inflation, and it's not just in the USA, bro'... it's all over the world!

910 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yes I am :) It's a great place. I've just come back from a trip to the Italian speaking part of Switzerland and it's so nice there. I've been there before but it's been a while and it was very nice and refreshing to go back. We took a 2 hour train ride and it almost felt like we were in Italy by the sea even though we were still in Switzerland and there was a lake but no ocean. I like so much about where I live. We're not great at making shit entertaining and grabbing attention but we're good at making shit work. Doesn't matter if it's a watch or a train or a whole country.

+1 yCanada is a wonderful nation and Toronto is by far thriving very well.

30 Reply5.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No, not at all. The country where I live has a lot of problems. But then again, it's not my country so it's not up to me to stand up against this country's issues. The natives are the ones who must solve them.

+1 yYes- but I'm also ashamed of it. Praise it for what it does right; correct it when it goes wrong. Like with anything else.
20 ReplyYeah I'm very proud of America.
I think America has some massive issues that need to be taken care of, but no other country in the world has the same amount of freedom and safety.
What is embarrassing is all the Americans who don't understand how lucky they are.
As someone who's parent fled their country to America and as someone who's lived in a third world country, Americans are the most fortunate people I'm the world.

As someone who's come from a s***hole country it's understandable you'd think that way, but there are way nicer countries than America. Admittedly most are in Europe.
- +1 y
@AngryCarl2 yeah I think European countries are nicer and more enjoyable in ways.
That said, Americans have more freedom 🤷 - +1 y
I can see why you'd think that, because that is the narrative your masters keep pushing. What they don't want you to know is that people in Europe pretty much do what they like without getting hassled by the cops.
- +1 y
That's good to know. It might surprise you that I've been stopped by cops 0 times in the last two years and I don't need a gun to defend myself because no one is trying to kill me.
- +1 y
@AngryCarl2 nice. Also yeah that's valid re no one trying to kill you
I used to be ashamed, now I am proud, even though my country is too nice I would say. :)

+1 yI can't be proud about something that I didn't participate in to create it.
Therefore, I also can't be ashamed of it.
Do I ''love'' where I live? - No. But all other spots on the planet aren't any better. So I stay where I am.
