Should People who are drunk or stoned be allowed to carry guns in public?

I personally think that carrying guns openly in public is provocative and leads to trouble, and should not be permitted. Concealed is ok.

Surely that can't have any real steam behind it. Of all the carry people I know, and that's most of them, none of us ever try to do it drunk. That's stupid, because even if "we're good" we know that if we shoot someone then, even if it's a legit shoot, we're going to get crucified in the media and by the D. A.

There's a guy from out of the area that's driving up here at night and jacking off outside of people's houses while he looks through the windows. The police have done fuckall about it because if there's not a doughnut attached to him. The cops here couldn't catch the clap in a whorehouse with a gold amex and a bottle of viagra. On the local message boards a lot of people are rightly discussing how this guy needs to get shot in the crotch, then call the cops to collect the bodies. Interestingly, the most vocal about that are the few here who do NOT carry, because the responsible gun owners, though they may feel the same way, are well aware that it becomes too easy for the D. A. to claim that it was premeditated and try to make a name for himself outside the ones he's called at the bar.

Well he tried to open two doors, just jingled the knob. I'm concerned what that evolves into when he's no longer getting his jollies staying outside and doing it. Aside from the shite apartment complex they built a few years ago, we haven't had a rape since 2015 or 2016. I can see that record getting broken then everybody involved will throw their hands up and be like "how did this happen?"

How is this even a question? If you're not allowed to drive a car under the influence, why would you be allowed to carry a gun? This is insane.

Responsible drivers never drive drunk (or stoned), responsible guns owners should leave them at home (locked up, separate from the ammunition).

I'm much more concerned about the drunk people. Stoned people are pretty mellow.

My real answer is that no one should be allowed to carry a firearm in public without a permit that requires some significant training.

I would think that kind of impairment would hinder one's judgement and ability to aim a weapon. Leave the gun at home if you wanna get sloshed or high, so some innocent doesn't get killed.

If one is public drunk or is caught driving and gets a DUI and has a legal gun, they should receive fines and possibly jail time and lose license for 2 years.
