I wonder what they have to hide?

I wonder what they have to hide?

If this is true, that's a violation of federal law. Documents created with tax money (like these) need to be maintained in an archive.
TBH, I haven't seen this. It would be good if you could provide a reliable source of this info. I'm not doubting it, just think some people will doubt it unless there's a reliable source.
"J6 Committee failed to preserve records, has no data on Capitol Hill security failures, GOP charges"
They did it because Trump now has subpoena power. Can you just imagine Nancy on the stand under oath explaining how she refused the national guard that day?
source MSN, and you refer to destroy evidence. like hilary computer hard drives.
@exitseven Thanks for MHO
Democrats and agencies that invented the fake narrative that Trump's words, and his very existence, incited an "insurrection" now realize that their charade is falling apart. If all records are subpoenaed, they'll be fucked.
It is those who destroyed evidence who should be put on trial.

The GOP accuse the bipartisan committee of not keeping all documents, and that suddenly becomes "the Democrats shreddeded all the documents!!1!!"?
Here's a Fox News article about it: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/j6-committee-failed-to-preserve-records-has-no-data-on-capitol-hill-security-failures-gop-charges
This part, in particular, sounds more like a technical problem than anything else:
"In response, Thompson wrote a letter saying that Loudermilk’s letter had many "factual errors" and claimed his committee had followed the rules and turned over "4 terabytes" of data.
Loudermilk told Fox News Digital that his committee has only received 2.5 terabytes of data and said the first footnote in Thompson’s letter to him on July 7 acknowledged they did not keep what they were supposed to."
And this part sounds like the committee followed the advice of counsel. (Why does that phrase sound familiar?)
"Consistent with guidance from the Office of the Clerk and other authorities, the Select Committee did not archive temporary committee records that were not elevated by the Committee’s actions, such as use in hearings or official publications, or those that did not further its investigative activities. Accordingly, and contrary to your letter’s implication, the Select Committee was not obligated to archive all video recordings of transcribed interviews or depositions. Based on guidance from House authorities, the Select Committee determined that the written transcripts provided by nonpartisan, professional official reporters, which the witnesses and Select Committee staff had the opportunity to review for errata, were the official, permanent records of transcribed interviews and depositions for the purposes of rule VII."
And, consistent with a wilful disregard to who caused the violence to happen: ""Leadership and law enforcement failures within the U. S. Capitol left the complex vulnerable on January 6, 2021," a Republican led investigation concluded last year. "The Democrat-led investigation in the House of Representatives, however, has disregarded those institutional failings that exposed the Capitol to violence that day.""
Cue the usual leftist European suspects misrepresenting reality. The corrupt Jan. 6 was NOT bipartisan- everyone on it was appointed by Nancy Pelosi. And they all hated Trump. It was not an investigative committee, it was not bipartisan, and it behaved in an unethical manner, so it's hardly a surprise that it destroyed documents. But what was it trying to hide?
Time for a real investigation of why they did. And why they didn't investigate the security failures on Jan. 6th.
@Avicenna You mean everyone on it loved democracy. Republicans volunteered to be on the committee, so it was bipartisan, same as any bill that garners at least a few opposition votes. It certainly wasn't unethical - what are you talking about? And, like I said, there's no evidence that anyone was trying to hide anything. You can see what they did in their report, it's right here: www.govinfo.gov/app/details/GPO-J6-REPORT/context, with supporting materials here: www.govinfo.gov/.../January%206th%20Committee%20Final%20Report%20and%20Supporting%20Materials%20Collection
Why do you want to concentrate on the reaction to the attack rather than the reasons for the attack? Basically you're complaining that they should have anticipated a raging armed mob being thrown at them by a loser president for the first time in the history of the country. You could be right, there were even people online telling each other which entrances to go to where they'd be let in (by MAGA cops), but any reasonable person can understand concentrating on the reasons for the unprecedented attack over the response to it. (Here's the 31 pages that deal with that: www.govinfo.gov/.../GPO-J6-REPORT-4-1.pdf )
No, they haven't.
First, any such documents immediately go into the National Archives.
However, now that the House is majority-GOP, lots of damning stuff for Trump that was produced by that was produced by that committee is much harder to find on-line. That's the nature of politics.
For instance, here is the January 6th Committee's YouTube page.
https://www.youtube.com/@January6thCmte
The channel identifies 40 videos.
Now, try to find the 2-hour-plus videos of testimony from those televised hearings.
Those videos were there in 2022...
I bet you can't. I can't - not among the 40 listed at that channel.
Well, you can't find them, but they are still there; they are just hidden.
For example, here's the video from the first televised session in June 2022.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/hZ0yNe3cFx4However, again, you can't find that listed among the 40 videos.
I wonder why...
I somehow doubt the Democrats had anything to do since they'd want the world to see the truth. But *POOF*, it's hidden now... courtesy of the GOP who are now in control of the House.
I was smart and bookmarked those videos because I knew the GOP would pull this shit.
And what did they do? Hide them.
That's politics... and the modern GOP way.
The title of this question, "Did you know that Democrats have shredded all documents related to the Jan6th hearings?" is one of the dumbest things you have come up with! First, the Republicans have tons of documents and even you should know that the democrats could not shred those documents. Of course, most of those documents that they are willing to show are lies. Loudermilk is probably the loudest GOP member claiming that the House Select Committee failed to preserve documents, data, and video depositions. He presented no proof, just made up crap that Faux News then broadcast to the Trump followers. Members of the committee from both parties have stated all evidence was documented and preserved.
Loudermilk also claimed that his group has been unable to find out how "these folk were able to get into the Capitol." If that idiot would look at any of the tons of video taken that day he would see them scaling walls and breaking doors and windows to gain entrance.
So this question is just another lie you are spreading.
They had nothing and now there is no evidence so there is still nothing. Its all BS, not real. They would have known that this information was needed and historical but they had smoke and now pretend that it was hard evidence when was there when it wasn’t ever there.
They have not shredded "all" documents. They shredded certain documents that contained classified information, just like any other court hearing does. Almost every single court hearing will shred documents that contain sensitive information that the public does not have a right to see.
Yes, I saw it on the news. Trump has subpoena power, so he could bring down their house of cards.
It must be so bad that we, the public, just can’t handle it and it’s probably better for democracy that it’s hidden from us from our elected officials. I, for one, am relieved that it was hidden from us because Congress should be the ones who decide what we can see and what disinformation we shouldn’t see.
good reference to books 1984 and Fahrenheit 400. sweet.
@strateguy632 Thanks. I tried to sound as dovish and naive as possible.
@exitseven Exactly. That’s why I went Anon for this one.
Well jeez, maybe they shouldn't have indicted someone who can now subpoena those records.
Bingo
Hmm much like how Hillary Clinton destroyed evidence.
These people are so fucking corrupt it is unbelievable. This is the most corrupted administration I have ever seen.
And she destroyed evidence that was subpoenaed, and still got away with it!
More corrupt than the administration that bombed an entire country for oil?
@JoeMichael67
Hillary voted for that war. Look it up. Simple people think that presidents can declare war, they can't. Both Republicans and Democrats wanted that war. Look it up.
they've shredded all documents on the 2020 election too
How convenient.
What documents are still only in paper from these days? What does it even mean to shred them?
Where were the digital files kept? When you say "documents" were these official records of committed and legal proceedings? Aren't there requirements for government document retention?
What documents are these - do you have a link to the story?
@richardcory
What happened when you Googled it?
@Stacey55666 I don't see any legit news sources describing demoncrats shreading documents. Does anyone have a link to the story?
I'd love to read that article, can you please post the link. Thanks

@Stacey55666 Source? Don't say Truth Social.
@AngryCarl2
So you're one of the five people on the planet that doesn't know how to use a search engine?
I found it in 2 minutes. Is there someone there that can help you?
@Stacey55666 I already searched and there's nothing, so get bent.

But if you need to believe there's nothing, I completely understand. If I was a liberal I wouldn't want to find it, either.
www.foxnews.com/.../j6-committee-failed-to-preserve-records-has-no-data-on-capitol-hill-security-failures-gop-charges It seems to be a matter of opinion whether particular videos should have been archived when there were official transcripts, for example.
to jul, content article, see MSN and oothers, search for these words "failed to adequately preserve documents, data and video depositions".
@strateguy632 @goaded @AngryCarl2 @stacey55666 "Consistent with guidance from the Office of the Clerk and other authorities, the Select Committee did not archive temporary committee records that were not elevated by the Committee’s actions, such as use in hearings or official publications, or those that did not further its investigative activities. “You want the truth? You can’t handle the truth!”
I googled this and didn’t get anything. But as law, the National Archives should have every doc.
One of my clients scans documents and then shreds them as they’re digitized.
It doesn't surprise me. The government is so corrupt that it's not even funny.
People are arguing about all of this, while I'm here wishing some adults were in charge.
Just plain lies now? That's disappointing. Or maybe you believed Faux News?
MSN and others fact checked
@strateguy632 There's a hell of a difference between allegedly not archiving everything and "shredded all documents".
Come on... why are you bringing your stupid politics to this site
you should say your opinion instead of silencing people.
Shredded documents is Democrat SOP.
Do you know 20 or more. Feds was in the lead telling the group come on
Got to Bury it
what? evidence?
It's so clear Trump is going to win 2024
Lmao, uh-huh.
Where is the link?
@strateguy632 Fox News (digital), and "GOP charges". Here's the original link: www.foxnews.com/.../j6-committee-failed-to-preserve-records-has-no-data-on-capitol-hill-security-failures-gop-charges
@strateguy632 That link details accusations, not conclusions. Worthless.
