As an adult, do you feel responsible for the next generations well being and future - or is it more about you and yours? Why/Why not?

So honestly, as a Gen- X guy screwed over by Boomers my whole life, and now with millennials taking over... Honestly, I don't give a shit. I had to fight and claw for all I got and have, and Boomers screwed us over and took all they could get, while kicking all the crap down the hill. And honestly Millennials are about all their own issues, from being woke, to being LGBTQ and gender confusion... I don't even give a shit at this point about senior citizens or millennials. And honestly, I don't expect any of them to care about GEN-X, because honestly none of them ever seemed to give a crap about us anyway.

I was born into a world with leaded gasoline. I remember going to to the gas station and you had your choice of leaded and unleaded gasoline. In my lifetime we as a species have removed that pollutant. So while we harm the planet. At the same time we're always working to be be better (without killing the economy along with it). My generation inherited this responsibility as did the generation before me. And generations after me will have to do the same.

It always amuses me that environmentalists always leave out the FACT that the sun is and will continue to grow hotter. Global warming is INEVITABLE regardless. I'm not saying we shouldn't take care of our cosmic nest now, we ABSOLUTELY SHOULD. I'm just saying this is a battle we'll eventually and inevitably lose.

We as a species have to look to the stars as our ultimate future home. Earth will not sustain us forever, regardless of what we do. That's just a FACT.

Well, now I wasn't speaking solely about the climate - but we'll focus on that.

So your take is "I was born in a world that was worse than it is now - this generation should just be grateful". Don't you think previous generations than yours did make a change that in the end benefitted you?

In my eyes, the better soceity & earth I create for the generations after me - the better future I have ahead of me. You and I aren't going to find the solution to get to the stars that you call our future home - the generations behind us are the one who might reach that.

Well much like you say I didn't understand your question. You clearly didn't understand my response. That was not my take AT ALL! I said I don't feel responsible for the next generation. Because I'm not out there smothering beaches in oil and clubbing baby seals. And the next generation will be people of thier time much like I'm a person of my time. They will have problems inquest to thier Era as mine is to mine. Has it escaped your attention that there are almost 8 billion people on this planet. In that respect I am a speck of sand on a beach.

So, we should just stay stagnant in "our era" - if we all, just specks of sand on a beach, or at least more than we are now would care, we might make a significantly change in our lifetime. And this does include the responsibility for at least trying to do better to our earth within our ability. - I know that we can do a hell of a lot better here in Denmark in a LOT of areas and this includes me.

It has not excaped my attention how many we are, another thing that hasn't excaped my attention is how fortunate I am comparing to over 700 million people on this earth & at this rate more and more are being added to that number. I can not safe the world but at least I can do my part.

But I do thank you for your opinion - even though I do disagree with you. It's appreciated.

We're not as far apart as you think. I think EVERYONE should do thier. Part. I'm just not as naive to believe everyone is going to. Also I wouldn't worry about Denmark. It'll be under water in a 100 years. The best thing they can do is thing about relocating.

I really took it seriously when I had kids. I somehow thought that I was supposed to do something really important. It never really happened but maybe one of my kids is supposed to do it and I was put here to make sure that it happens.

I'm not a parent nor thought I'd be doing something important. That has changed tho, I take pride in my profession and what my fellow colleagues do for my soceity - here including trying to make a better foundation for kids to succeed on for the better of all our futures. I've learned to believe that a small impact on the world - is more important than the indivual gives credit.

To be honest this generation 99% of then are bunch of self entitled lazy ass*oles. can't stand them bc they blame everyone for everything can't think for there selves and let's be honest this woke bullsh*t this generation is taking it way to far. so no we shouldn't be responsible for it.

I mean, the older generations have ALWAYS thought that the next generations are worse than theirs. Mostly because "well they're far more privileged than I was when I was their age - they don't deserve more!"

I still think I'm responsible to make soceity as good as possible, for the future - which is our future generations.

Humanity wise, yes. We’re getting smarter and more capable each gen. Downside of that is the environment. But perhaps the former can fix the latter.

Or our Gen double Z’s will be fighting for gas in a Mad Max dystopia.
