It makes me think, will there still be a lot of good surgeons when I'm 70 years old?
What scares you the most about the next generation becoming adults?
It makes me think, will there still be a lot of good surgeons when I'm 70 years old?
Their political opinions once they reach voting age. You have young boys seeing misogynistic content, like Andrew tate, and thinking that’s an acceptable view to have. As well as their self esteems and emotional maturity. These boys will be so hateful, and no one will want to be near them, leading to mental health crisis as they get older. It will increase social isolation.
You have young girls seeing content about wearing makeup as children, how to be more attractive, how to dress better, etc etc. Teaching them that their worth is based on their appearance. I thought we had progressed past this but apparently not. This will also lead to mental health crisis as they get older.
All of these factors will impact their political views and I don’t see it being in a good way. Too many parents are letting devices raise their children instead of putting in the real work, and it will screw us.
Great points! That is so true.
I don't know. And maybe I have the nicest son in the world. But I reckon the influence of Andrew Tate type material is much less than 5% of young men. Maybe I am wrong.
@bddddd It’s much higher than 5%, but I’m happy to hear that your son is not in that percentage. That tells me that you’re a good parent. Keep up the good work! I also have a son and hope to keep him away from that awful content.
They know way TOO much that we didn't know when we were their age and that's bad. They are losing innocence too early because of that and kids these days ask chatgpt for information/help with project rather than do your own study/research. How will they learn like this? Many kids these days are also very self conscious about how they look which I didn't see kids back in my day were regarding appearance and what they have.
Yes exactly.
Same here!
You're welcome!

"will there still be a lot of good surgeons when I'm 70 years old?"
That's a good question and the answer is probably not. Since I went back to college in the late 80s I noticed a tremendous change. Under the guise of "equity" they dumbed down all the curriculum from my first college experience in the 70s so that everybody could pass even if they didn't have the smarts and talent to do so. And this was an Ivy League college and the top university in the world in my field. I can just imagine what is happening at lesser schools today.
Between DEI, and all this "equity" garbage, they are destroying the country. You have kids who think the world owes them a living and they are entitled to everything whether they earn it or not because everyone is "equal."
On top of that they have no social skills because they live their lives on social media on their phones.
You can be sure that means that every profession is already being dumbed down and I can detect it every time I hire one.
God help us.
Indeed
"Chatgpt for everything"
And that's only the beginning...
But enough with drama: as with any society, there isn't any single source of influence for kids, they are undergoing influence and counter-influence by school, by their peers, by internet exposure, by parents, by family, by policies, religion, countries. Due to the sheer amount of factors at play:
The next generation has
a l w a y s
been unpredictable.
What's VERY predictable though is the reaction of the generation above the new one. History consistently shows that we have a strong tendency to look down on younger generations. This can be legitimate, a fear from a parental perspective. That's a common fear. This can also be unfounded, or ill-advised, because there's this temptation to be narcissistically attracted to our generation as it is familiar, known. And in turn, it generates fear or despise for the unknown, or the less known, for youth.
You won’t need people for medical advice or procedures. Robots are already doing surgeries, with some guidance for now. AI is also surpassing doctors and nurses with decades of experience in diagnosing and treating most things. We’re not that far away from the entire process being fully automated.
The problem is that all those idiots are going to need an income. Despite their gaping void of knowledge, skills and experience, they’re going to demand excessive wages for doing literally nothing. The bureaucrats have well more than half of this country thinking that UBI is some kind of socialist scam.
The real news is that almost every job in the world can be done by computers and/or robots now. In a decade, our human labor force will be nearly nothing. But our people will still need food and shelter, and the corporations making billions off of cutting our jobs and incomes out of their profit plans will happily watch people starve to death and die of easily treatable illnesses and injuries, just like in communist countries that everyone so loves to hate.
We’ve been voting for our own destruction for decades. We deserve exactly that and nothing less.
The problem with ubi' is people won't be motivated to work.
False. It has been successfully implemented by dozens of countries. It has invariably increased productivity and promoted the overall value of the labor force.
You @chazmatazz269 saying so does not make it true. People won't be motivated in any country.
I’m very unimpressed with the social attitudes of many Gen Z men. Thinking Trump is cool is dumbfounding, not just from a moral decency standpoint, but the guy is a fucking dork and his entire movement is made of dorks.
This might be the first generation that’s less cool than their parents are. I thought that was always a positively advancing thing, but these kids really rolled backwards, so many of them seem like total clowns desperately trying to fool everyone else into thinking they’re “alpha males”…. and just believing in alpha males in the first place is absolute goober behavior, lmfao
Several severe things but the MOST is how they demand and some get "money for nothing" unconditionally... We ALREADY gave unemployed money and SAW they stay unemployed and buy drugs. Now watch what happens when 90% in each city gets money! the laziness to "want money easy" is a problem.
JUST WANTING IT shows a problem. And they think "people only steal because they need. So give them a free home or money for rent and they won't steal" but everyone wants more easy money... those who steal want to steal and want more by stealing items or money.
In some countries they get "unconditional money" regardless of income, like give the rich and middle class "charity"? That is insane they don't need it. But the laziness to want money easy is a problem.
Pay our college debts for us... as a bribe i should vote for you?
I'm not even gonna think about that stuff. The way the media bashed my generation when we were growing up the world shouldn't even exist anymore but nothing happened in the end. I feel like these kind of topics are just a waste of your mental energy because if the next generation is gonna be bad at taking care of us, there's nothing we personally can do to improve the learning of these children. And if not then it's just worrying about nothing. So either way, it's just fear put into your head by somebody who gets paid to write this stuff. It's better to just enjoy the moment and be grateful for the positive things we do have :)
They often have not had the opportunity to snuggle in sand dunes or kiss surreptitiously, ask girls out and be rejected and generally learn how the world works. Life has become an 'iLife' with fairly well documented detrimental effects on their wellbeing.
Yes there will still be good surgeons when you are 70 years old.
Model designation A4B273W will cut you up like a pro when connected to an AI running 25 surgical units at once. They have a wonderful "bedside manner" algorithm.
Or you can opt for a human surgeon who will be taking selfies with your uterus during your hysterectomy and posting the pics on the universal neural net for viewing by anyone with neural implants. With 10 million views, your surgery is free.
A lot of gen Z Claim to have autism, they’re socially awkward as fuck, and seem to be proud to list off their 30 mental illnesses. My sister is 20 and she sits in her room 24/7 playing video games, no job, never goes anywhere, no friends, boyfriend is equally as pathetic, multitude of mental illnesses, can’t work cause of “anxiety” hopefully this isn’t a large portion, and only a minority, but I’ve noticed a lot of people in that 16-22 age range are downright lazy losers.
I've noticed that too. When I subbed, many said they hated to read which scared me.
Probably their ADHD behavior, and the soft parenting of this generation making kids a bit more misbehaved.. Who knows what type of adults Gen Alpha will be.. Not to mention the slow radicalization going on in America right now of especially politics.. Now that's to say that I'm not really super worried.. These are just concerns for the most part..
I don't see a ton of self regulation and wisdom in GenZ and younger.
Millennials don't have much either. But I guess I'd like to see more of a foundation for those behaviors, and I'm mostly not seeing it.
On the other hand, the GenZ I meet who do have it together are fucking killin' it. So who knows? Maybe Gen Z will be a generation that's mostly a bunch of ineffective, entitled, moody people with a shining stars that burn bright.
Nothing scares me: when ''they'' take over, I will be almost gone. So this idiotic century actually cannot harm me directly.
I do have negative predictions, though: shallow entertainment, lack (or rather: absence) of innovative creativity (on genius-level), superficial greed and vanity have taken over.
Add the disinterest in developing further: philosophy and societal values (and advancement).
I see a collapse coming up. They will survive it. But it will cause pain.
I grew up without social media and the internet, where we had to use our imagination more. I find the next genertation depend too much on the internet and social media. The creativity is becoming less and less. Social media I find has put a damper on peoples lives.
not living in an urban environment I am not exposed to the aspect of the younger generations that are inept at existing without google and AI. The youth I an exposed to up here are very bright, capable, talented, active, and largely unplugged. I guess I hold out hope still.
People have been finding ways to cheat their way through school since the beginning of time lol maybe chatgpt makes it more convenient but the intention is still there.
A different is, in my generation a few were like that, in your generation 2005 more, now most are too lazy to try, relying on obama "no kid left behind."
@strateguy632 to be fair, it was Bush who signed that bill back in like ‘01 or ‘02 and a lot of us didn’t know it even existed in order to benefit from it lol. In any case though, I wasn’t making comparison between how difficult of a time someone had cheating in one generation vs another. My statement was simply that finding ways to cheat their way through school has always been a thing.
Yes, I teach at a local college. I am appalled at whet these kids don't know. My students are the kids that were in high school during covid so they basically lost 2 years of education.
I agree the learned helplessness when it comes to tech is concerning but the generation that raised them is more to blame for that than the kids doing what the adults in their life told them to do.
I have mixed feelings. The things I worry most about though are their work ethic and motivation and their emotional and social intelligence.
Their parents were raised by my generation who were all teen mothers. They are all second generation poorly educated and could care less attitudes. A number were raised under a gov who is a dictatorship. It won't end well.
I really dislike the LGBTQ+ propaganda going on and I worry how is this going to affect my kids and next generations.
just the fact that there's not enough of them. population is in rapid decline and when i am an elderly, there's gonna be much less young people compared to elderly people than there are today.
That's honestly not my problem. If I ever have kids, I'll be concerned about THEM. As far as other people's kids becoming adults, that's not my problem
they will realize how much harm we've done to them... lol
There should be more competent procedures I hope developed so the skill of a practitioner becomes less important
@Simslover92 The important thing is Simslover92 is that "like the line in Margin Call (2011) that while they appreciate your concern, it's not your problem/not our problem" because is their generation.
It will be our problem though. Some of these kids will someday be our doctors and nurses when we're old. Do you really want incompetent doctors working on you?
@Simslover92 let the AI and Machines replace more jobs currently done by humans lol 🏥
They are the ones who ought to be scared because they don't want to work.🤷🏼♀️
Nothing scares me about the next generation, only concerned, because if you see the possible future of there actions which will cause a negative impact that will last forever and worse per generation
That they will achieve "adulthood" with none of the previous measures of BEING an adult having been attained. Damn boomers.
that they do not care about anything. few days ago, i saw few kids playing and throwing throwing the puppy dog on the sand like it is a toy.
Similarly i saw a thin man pass a cat stray, he kicked it so hard, i heard the thump from 40 feet 13 yards away.
@strateguy632 that's a disgusting act
And cruel.
@strateguy632 yes
Their cluelessness. They think that on finding something on Twitter or twitch or Facebook is news. They accept the things unquestioningly.
Yes they will have you knocked out and google will be on the big screen explaining how to do the next procedure….. The good drs will be the ones that knew out to read and follow instructions…. lol
I’m concerned because there is so much knowledge from the past will be lost and no one wants to work or take pride in their work
I'm worried about how they'll openly do things that are shown in porn. Less people are committed these days for a loyal relationship and its getting worse and worse.
Cost of housing. Even my generation has a hard time.
They can’t remember phone numbers, read maps. All take to take enimy down to take out the satellite.
"All it takes to take enemy down, is to take out their satellite". I understand you.
Not with who's in charge now. Look at what he's doing
their dopamine is fucked
An lack of critical thinking.
Using ChatGTP is not cheating. You need to carefully phrase your questions to it to get usable answers.
Back in my day we had to actually read the textbooks to get the answers. ChatGTP is lazy and do you really want someone with little work ethic working on you when you get old?
the fact they have no idea what needs to be done, and the right way
They have zero attention spans!
Lack of morality.
Genuine question: What does a lack of morality mean to you?
their sexual habits
That they aren't worth the flesh they are printed on. I have to rely on them to pay the social security ponzi scheme that I paid into my whole life.
All politicians. They are all full of greed!
I fear they would have lack of patience
Their inability to talk, or think
They believe the devices are really smart
They are too obsessed with cell phones.
Their stupidity and how they lack empathy
Gen z is fucked
not being a mature person
Too many
How they drive.
