I think there should be group therapy and individual therapy to support youth with trans issues. I support crossdressing and name alteration, but I believe hormone therapy and surgery should be postponed until age 18 or later.

There's an awful lot of trendy "trans-ing" going on these days. And only 4% of the population is truly transgender. And during the teen years, youth suffer through a lot of changes and try on a lot of identities. Introducing hormones that are not natural to alter the body someone was born with, is a giant step that a young adult, not a child, needs to make.

I know gender dysphoria is distressing, but I hope that those considering transitioning aren't simply operating on transitory feelings, unhappiness, but have gone through years of supportive therapy and have lived as the sex they want to be as well. It shouldn't be a quick fix, but as slow a process as entering and leaving puberty should be.

Yes, I think it should be banned for people under the age of 18.
I understand that there are many people who identify as trans before the age 18, but the decision to go through a surgery is big and should not be made by young people.

When they are 18 they can decide about their own lives and their bodies. But not before that in my opinion.

A changing world we are in & if you ban (surgery and pills) for transgender transitioning for people under the age of eighteen & you don’t ban (surgery and pills) for people over the age of eighteen some joker will file a suit for age discrimination.

On the flip side I would only ban (surgery and pills) if they were unsafe for the person (s).

Of course. If an 18 year old can’t even smoke a cigarette or drink a beer how is this legal? We are considered adults at the age of 18 correct? So why can’t someone smoke or drink at that age but it’s ok for a child to make a life changing decision like that? I would say 16. 18 is when the government decides you're a legal adult. By 16 you're able to make your own choices.
