I always do this to either strengthen my opinion or changing it at the end.

What does being devil's advocate mean?
- a person who advocates an opposing or unpopular cause for the sake of argument or to expose it to a thorough examination

Yes I do. I consider it a key part of critical thinking. If you only look at the evidence that supports your own argument you can't always get the right answer. And as I frequently like to say, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
