I think it's creepy and weird. No child should participate in this.

I thought the same until my wife met a woman involved in a series of pageants. My wife and daughter begged me to allow my daughter to participate. Over time I relented. This particular series focused on character, confidence and community service. My daughter went through a series of interviews and mentoring that caused her self confidence to explode. Still humble but sought to serve rather than be served. Something we were trying to instill in her but couldn’t crack the code. But this particular series of pageants got through to her. So my daughter learned a little more about poise, character and confidence. She was reminded that a life of service was a life of quality. She wouldn’t listen to her parents but she listened to her mentors.

it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. They didn’t focus on glits and sparkles and makeup. They focused on character development and confidence and service. We all actually benefited from it. To the point where my daughter opened up a charity and raised a few thousand dollars for her cause while we were involved.

so pageants in general make me clench my teeth in apprehension. But this one was a blessing in disguise.

I don't think it's a good idea cause the worst thing you can do to a child aside from obvious forms of abuse, is teach them to objectify themselves based on their appearance. Even adults have difficulty dealing with that type of judgment, and children should not be exposed to it at all. Their guardians should protect them as long as possible before the world forces them to judge them based on their appearance, which is a hidden standard many people in this world are influenced by. The opposite also happens where very good looking people are bullied for looking better than the average person by jealous, same gender rivals. I had a friend who was harassed or assaulted almost every week which is one of the reasons she got a car and no longer rides the bus to school.

Creepy and disgusting. Adults are pretty much fetishizing children and justifying it by saying "Well, he/she likes it. They like being on stage.." Modifying children to appear as adults, has nothing to do with the ''stage'' they are in now and it's disgusting that children see themselves as adults and behave like them. They are not ready to see or perceive themselves that way.

No as a parent of a daughter it's now on her own

I would have never ever put her in that position in that world I would rather her stay home and be a little girl and play with dolls and live life that way let her grow at her own pace not throw her in that world of whatever they go through in a beauty pageant I know it's not good

They would be Nice if it was only about kids having fun an getting dress up in fun none adult ways instead of putting Kids looks against other Kids Looks. Unfortunately this is not the case with some. Not saying all kid pageants are like that but To many are

It's a parents approved and decent event. So no need to look down on it. All depends in how it's orchestrated.

If that is what the child wants, it is a very good thing because she is learning to compete a characteristic she will need when she is an adult, and when she places or wins it improves her self-esteem.

It's like bringing your child to a drag queen show. Liberals seem to love it. DeSantis outlawed that, and the liberals on this site don't like that he did it.

When I was a kid teachers used to talk about equality and uniformity so that children stop competing. Whereas now, children are being allowed to change genders 👀
