Is divorce worse than it seems?

I have seen many men in my family destroyed by divorce. Full on divorce r*pe. Nice normal lives to full on bankruptcy and homelessness. Being the youngest you see the horrible effects of divorce and divorce is a lot scarier than most think.

Divorce can hit people very hard, both emotionally and financially. It does not actually "destroy" you though as you might claim, that is more likely because of their own bad decisions aside from the divorce.

Also, the whole point of a relationship is that you trust your partner and have a good relationship with them. Even if a relationship were to fall apart later on that should still mean that it would be handled amicably. Examples where either side is viciously attacking each other is honestly more about them being bad at judging each others character when getting together as opposed to divorces being bad.

"Many man destroyed by divorce" -- you didn't live with them. Maybe they destroyed the marriage and their wife had little choice.

I did live with my father at least.

I think the worst thing about a divorce is the social loss, of not having a wife and child greet you when you leave the house or come back home. You can earn back the money you lose if your healthy and strong but the unconditional love of your children is harder to get back after a divorce.

It also causes a lack of self-confidence in children.

It certainly can be. It really depends on the people involved. My divorce was pretty painless. My ex husband and I made it a priority to put the kids first, and then to be civil. We still work together. maybe we're just lucky.

It can still turn sour in my experience.

My parents got divorced whe nI was in high school. On TV they used to show that when parents got divorced they both try to buy the affections of the kids with sports cars and expensive vacations. Alas that was not the case with my brother and me.

Those type of men deserve to have their money drained from them. Most of them did nothing besides take from their wives during the marriage. It is only fair that karma comes back around to them
