Gun owners, you ever feel like you want to get rid of your guns?

I've been feeling that way about the gun I carry almost every day. I'm resenting it, like I resent the bulletproof vest I wear almost every day under my shirt.

Every time I take it all off I feel better, but I can't go out without taking those precautions and I was considering to pack a back up gun too - something small, perhaps to wear on the ankle.

I hope never to NEED my gun, but I'm no where near naïve and sheltered enough to believe that I might not need it someday. I've twice pointed a loaded weapon at a person in anger, and fortunately, that was enough to get them to back off and go away. That was twice too many. But my town and my state have only gotten more dangerous over time, and the justice system has only grown weaker and less interested in crime. I would be a complete fool to get rid of my guns.

I store food, I store water, I store first-aid supplies, I store gasoline, I store medications, tools, and all kinds of things. I hope never to NEED them, but California has earthquakes, wildfires, mudslides and other natural disasters that surprisingly often leave people without basic survival supplies. I would love to get the garage space back, and not have money tied up in these things, but not enough to risk being without them.

Too many people count on the government to save them, be it the police, the fire department, the courts, or FEMA - clearly most have never had to deal with the government and its almost complete indifference and lack of priority for YOUR problems. I'm prepared to take care of myself and my family on my own, and I'm going to be here, and I'm going to care, TODAY, RIGHT NOW. The government? Not so much.

If you or anyone wants to put your survival into the hands of the government, that's your choice. But rest assured, dealing with the justice system and hoping for them to protect you is usually such a piss-poor experience that it makes the DMV look efficient and organized.

Nope, I'ma tell you a story about a friend a few years back, one time this friend decided to lend his gun to another friend, the other friend had beef with people but he refused and he was like nah it's your gun you shouldn't give it to me but my friend insisted and he said take it, you need it so he did, literally the next day my friend got into an altercation with some older guy at the gas station and they argued until it turned into a fist fight, my friend won the fight and as he was walking away the older guy pulled out a gun and shot him in the back killing him, if they both had guns it most likely would've been a gun fight, not a fist fight and an unfair draw, it's best to always keep your piece, tomorrow is never guaranteed and if you need a gun to higher your chances of seeing tomorrow then by all means carry it.

Where I live I can conceal carry or open carry but don't need to as crime us so low. I've lived in places where I couldn't carry or have a home defence weapon but really needed one.

Nope. Literally never felt that way. I never felt that way about my kitchen knives, table saw, or any of my hammers either. Tools make life easier.

No I resent what our society has deteriorated into to necessitate the need to carry. I would much rather just own and shoot guns as a hobby or carry them when I venture deep into the forest.

I just got guns a year ago and I feel more safe knowing I can defend my home and family. I ma not getting rid of them anytime soon.
