would it be so hard for them to say, "may I help you?"
One of the reasons stores are starting to use self check out lines to eliminate customer complaints and to eliminate poor customer service. No matter where we go these days , there will always be someone pissed off about something or starting shit over the littlest thing , Most people today do not know what it means to be respectful I feel ever since the pandemic hit us and knowing we have a moron as a President that scammed his way into the White House this country has turned to shit and people don’t trust or respect each other anymore. Most stores are suffering trying to find people that actually want to work , Sadly most people don’t want to work anymore , work ethic went pretty much out the door , People rather sit on their asses and smoke weed all day and have everything handed to them instead of actually going out into the world and earning a living. Every store I go to is desperate for workers. People in this country have become lazy and ignorant and selfish , always wanting things to go their way. If something doesn’t go their way all hell breaks loose this society has turned into a bunch of pussies. I blame social media as well by playing a big part on damaging peoples mindsets of always thinking grass is greener on the other side. I lived on this planet before social media was even really a thing , when people weren’t really glued to looking at their phones , When you could walk into a store by yourself and have nice conversations with people , Nowadays it’s not like that anymore , people have become very distant from each other , not longer trusting each other , Relationships are failing constantly because of selfish mindsets.. I honestly don’t see this country and society getting any better sadly to say , we will all be controlled by robots before we know it lol The second I see a human walking around with a robot I am going to remove myself from society and go live in the woods somewhere AI technology is some scary shit and this Government and society is planning to use it more than you think , people will be screwing robots before we know it distancing ourselves even more from each other , You have Corona virus , stay the fuck away from me pretty much , Now that it’s close to election time , I guarantee we are going to experience more dumb shit , already talk about another lock down. Sad world we live in

Hell yeah, but sometimes I hate it when people come up and say hey I'll help whoever is next. When it's obvious you've been standing in line like six person back. Why not just come up to you and say hey I can help you with the next register? Obviously I've been waiting in line I'm like six people back. I hope wherever is next just results in a bum rush of random people trying to get cut in front of you.
I also hate it when a waitress or waiter says things like "What would we like today to eat today. Or."are we decided on what you want or do you need more time."
Who the f*** is we? I don't know you I didn't come here with you I have no idea what we as in you and I would like to eat, like are you eating with us or not? Cuz if you are you have to tell me what you want before I know if we are decided... but you are the waiter and waitress there is no we!!!
Will you go up to a register to check out and they're like what can we do for you today? F****** check me out you're the cashier, why else do you think I walked up here and got in line?
I guess if your the only one standing in front of them yes that ignorant, however such as my butcher does say the same thing almost every time but as we are not in a straight line it would be difficult for him to know who really is next so in that case it is a useful response from him.
I could come up with a million retorts to this.

Yes, this is crazy, can't they see two eyes in front of them?
The problem is, when they say "may I help you?" There's always a retort that drives them insane. For example,
"Maybe"
"I don't know but we'll see"
"I hope so"
"You can help me by..."
People in these jobs already hate their lives. Customer service is not an easy job1) Yeah there are quite a few ways an employee could phrase it in much more personal and "nice" way
2) Employees don't always know who's next in line due to crooked lines and people having conversations in line
3) Treat an employee well and within a few visit they'll start recognizing you and making sure everything is done right for you
4) A lot of employees are new and are focused on adjusting to the work place, give them some time.
Nah, I pretty much expect impersonal service anymore and I'm totally fine with it. I might not like it if they give me attitude though. Though to be honest, I even expect that to a certain degree anymore. I know most people hate thier jobs and are only doing it because they need to make money. I was there at one time. And now that I don't have to work anymore how can I get angry at them? I mean they have to work tomorrow, the next day and so on, I don't.
I think that always sounds silly. They obviously haven't been told what to say by their boss. It it also annoying when they open a new checkout at the grocery store and don't direct the people already in line to it before others.
Yes I think that's funny but I like the way that you ask the question that's even better because it is so true
NEVER HAD THAT! THAT IS WHY YOU WORK WITH A TICKET SYSTEM. LET THEM ALL DRAW A NUMBER AND THE NUMBER COMES ON A SCREEN!
When I've been on line they usually say " NEXT". There is no passion in retail. Honestly, I can't blame them. The public doesn't respect the retail industry.
I wouldn't worry about this personally. It's probably out of habit saying it all day when there is a line and nicer than just screaming NEXT. Have you ever been in customer service?
I've done that, im guilty. But in my defense, I'm mainly in the warehouse on a forklift. I work at counter when they get backed up. So I don't know who is next.
better "how can i help you" that's what i say at my customer service jobs.
i kind of understand. how about... "I can help the next in line"?
They don't want to create a dispute by choosing who's next. They want customers to sort it out.
LOL hate is a strong word. As long as I get helped, I'm down with it!
I see... Well not all workers appreciate their jobs I suppose. So far I've never experienced this behavior
I guess that might be like. When in the doctor’s office. The nurse says that the “Doctor will be right in!”
They want to see a fight break out or they don't want to be attacked themselves by a crazy customer
I know what you’re saying
They just lack customer service skills training.
I know for Pete’s sake
