Do you agree with me that the hiring of airline pilots should be based on diversity and equity and NOT skill?

The family of the dead pilot is suing the airline for hiring their son to fly the Boeing jet. Everyone knew he couldn't do it, but diversity was their goal.

I hate flying, but when I do, I'm not interested in equity or diversity. I just want to get there safely. I don't care if the pilot is purple, green or pink.

I was flying with my cuz on a dual prop commercial plane. My cuz was sleeping, but I was very nervous, because I was new to flying. I woke my cuz up and asked him if my theory was correct. I asked if the pilot took turns flying with one prop and then the other. (let them rest)

My cuz just said: "Oh, shit!"
Our pilot landed the plane.

I liked it whan Biden was hiring the head of the FAA. He was not really concerned with if the guy was a pilot or that he had aviation management experience. It was more important that he was a person of color.

He was grilled by Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana.. He aske the candidate if he knew what a transponder was. Anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of flight would know when a transponder was. Of course the candidate had no clue. Oddly enough he withdrew from the process.

I don't care about equity or diversity in any profession. Over the course of my life I've spent many years being the minority somewhere. You know what? Don't care. I want to be surrounded by people good at what they do. I don't care if they look like me, don't look like me, think I look stupid, look at catalogs for fun on any other permutation of the word look at it applies to society. Several times in my life I've been the only person in the room "that looked like me" and I haven't cared a single time and i certainly didn't get whiny butthurt bullshite like people do today about everything.

Yeah , I'm up there in a metal box , I want the absolute most skilled person out there , in case something goes wrong. I have 2 golfing mates , one still flying and the other retired , they both say same , that for the most part " anyone could do it " BUT , when stuff goes wrong , you want a super skilled individual , and often " stuff goes wrong " , you have probably flown when something did go wrong.

I want the very best , I don't care their gender / race any of that , but I want the best , most skilled.
