Where were you when 9/11 happen 22 years ago?

On west-coast time, it had already happened by the time I got up. I got some coffee going and turned on my computer and when I logged into the internet, the news was all over!! I read what I could about it before I logged out to get ready for work, and I was in shock. I quickly emailed some friends.

I went to work and the mood was somber. The manager who I worked with was on vacation in a remote part of Canada in a fishing resort only accessible by plane. So I was in charge of the business while he was gone.

After work I went to the local wine bar which was a good part of my social life then. A few of my wine friends and I went to a restaurant from there and speculated about what was going to become of all this.

I remember going to the gym the following evening after work and it was very somber. Most people didn't make eye contact and some people were crying while working out.

To this day it is still hard to imagine that all of this happened. It was a day that eventually changed society in a number of ways. And the bad memories left behind for those more closely involved and for those who actually lost loved ones.

I remember the next day, since the manager at work was on that remote fishing trip, I called his wife at home because she didn't go. I asked if she was able to get ahold of him. Since cell phones weren't as big of a thing yet and there wasn't the coverage that there is now, and there were no phones at the village that he was at, she had not been able to contact him.

When flights got back (somewhat) to normal, he was able to get back. He said that someone flew in, in a water plane, to tell them the news. (This was in Canada.) If it wasn't for that he wouldn't have even known about the sad event.

Asleep. I was going to college at the time and I didn't have any early morning classes that day so i slept in. Since I lived I the same town as the college I went to school at I was still living at home. And my mother came screaming into my bedroom that we were under attack. I went to the t. v. about the time the south tower was collapsing. It's not that I'm minimizing it or didn't think it was serious but I remember being annoyed that I was woken up like that. I mean I grew up at the tail end of the cold war. So I think my mother could have informed me in a less dramatic way. But yeah, I remember watching the reports all day, the pentagon, the field in Pennsylvania. I live in the Midwest so we are pretty removed from the "action" so to speak. But I remember the run on gas here because rumor spread that there was going to be no gas and some of the gas station here got punished for price gouging during it. It was a crazy day.

My dad was in Astoria Queens tho bc he lived in New York at the time. He could see it from his apartments

I was age 33 and my little niece was newborn on Aug 2, 2001 and my sister was age 32, we put the TV on and could not believe what was happening, yes this was very heartbreaking to see all these people who passed away.

On a treadmill, at the office gym, before my shift, listening to a live radio show. The DJs literally put their mics up against a TV set in their studio for the "audio feed" they put on the air. As I recall, management let us go home and hour or two early that day.

I had just came into the office, boss said we weren't opened today, I asked why and he told me to sit down and watch the news.
