Where were you on September 11th, 2001?

I was in elementary school in 5th grade. I remember I was heading to gym class when we first got the news that the World Trade Center was attacked.

at work, I saw the one tower on fire on a TV monitor. I just shrugged it off and went back to work and later heard both towers fell down. It wasn't a shock to me, they tried to blow the building before during Clintons time, wasn't a shock someone tried again. I had said to someone prior they should mount some SAM's ontop those buildings... but I was thinking about incoming missiles not airplanes. Never imagined an airplane going in like that and in hindsight, made perfect sense... if ya want to be a terrorist.

Awful way to die... horrible what evil man can do!

As well my reaction at the time was much more complacent... to pray for those who attacked us rather than bomb them. That didn't happen... and how many more millions died?

I was on a bus to the art museum when it happened also in 5th grade. We got there and then one of our teachers got a call on their cell phone, so we all went back to school and wondered why the flag (which our classmates had raised to full that morning) was at half-mast. Our entire school gathered in the library when we were told what happened. A few hours later I was told that my uncle who worked in the WTC was not dead or injured in any way. I had no other family members who were in danger at that time. so that was it. My mom nearly sued my school for telling us almost as soon as it happened, because nobody knew anything about their family members who were at risk when we were told.

My moms first and last ever real surprise birthday... we never did it again after, she was born in the US, so I do think she had more connection to it from most of us that it was mostly the terror of what happen

I was in school. I remember the teachers all freaking out/being distraught and us younger kids just kind of also freaking out because we knew SOMETHING bad had happened, but not fully grasping the entire level of it all.

I was in primary school (year 6). Well, I was on the way home. My mum picked me up as normal, but we stopped off to see a close family friend and pick up my birthday presents (yeah, Sept. 11 is my birthday). When we got home, I went to put the TV on, but instead of kids TV (CBBC & CITV) it was the news, bit I thought it was a movie. Bit weird that they'd show a movie when kids are coming home from school, but I just went upstairs and played computer games for a bit before we went out for dinner and to see a movie.

I was working for an engineer firm in Kansas City I went down to the break room and noticed a few aircraft were flying into the Twin towers. Little bit later on I noticed the towers coming down. I thought to myself poor people noticing people falling from The towers. Later on I found out the lot of them were jumping from the towers to save themselves from the torturous death. Years later I worked with an individual that was on the rescue teams that were in the towers they're in New York before they fell. He had a lung disease and was slowly dying. He did have a good attitude about things.

I was 3 years old. The 9/11 attacks were overshadowed by a tragedy in my family; my grandfather died suddenly early that morning. I vaguely recall my parents explaining what had happened to him, but no mention was made of the attacks. I didn't learn about them some time later.

I got up that morning and turned on the computer as I was making coffee. I saw on the computer a photo of a fireball coming out of what looked like the World Trade Center. Then I sat at the computer reading about it and I was horrified. I went in to work and the atmosphere was somber. That evening I went to the gym after work and people were working out and holding back tears. It was awful.

I was working as a lab engineer at a big tech company. I had a television set up on a cart with a DVD player we used for conferences. I made an antenna out of a piece of coax cable and paperclips and was able to get the local news broadcast. Lots of people came into the lab and watched in disbelief.

I was working for a food distributor. I just arrived at one of my stops and when the manager of the restaurant opened the door he asked if I had heard about the twin towers. He had it on the TV in the restaurant. We watched it together and saw the second tower get hit. It was a very depressing day. A couple days later I was delivering prepared food to ground zero, the landfill where all the debris was taken and the coroner office through the red cross.

I assure you j wasn't involved. No I wasn't even born. My father's first wife was in one of the buildings. He's still cut up about it, he moved out of new York afterwards, he was in the army for a while.
