Image a situation where someone you like and maybe also have deeper connection is trying to committ suicide what would you do? ?

It´s a though experiment and I just want to see how people on here think about that. I lately thought of it while arguing with a colleague about tolerance is supposed to look like. If you want to give a comment please be polite.

Try to prevent them from killing themselves.

Accept that they want to end their life and let it happen.

I voted B, because someone that's that unhappy can't really be helped just because one person tells them not to commit suicide. It depends on how long they've wanted to die. If it's been several years, then maybe I would let them finally do it, whereas if it's just a new phenomenon, then maybe an intervention is needed. But I wouldn't have confidence in myself alone. I'd get professionals involved. Get the person to fully be aware of how physically painful their chosen method of dying will be, and hopefully that will deter them. But there is something kind of annoying about how people force people to stay alive that don't want to be alive. It's kind of selfish to ignore someone until they mention suicide and then force them to stay alive. It sounds like social coercion rather than empathy in that sense.

Thanks for your perspective. I don´t think it´s a question that´s easy to be answered so I wouldn´t say one of the options is right or wrong.
