Question Details: The act of committing suicide is selfish but I don't think the person who's killing themselves is doing it to be selfish. When you're going through that much pain emotionally you're blinded by the good things and people in your life. The people who call it selfish and say "go ahead do it" have never been pushed to that point.

I'm suicidal my self but... I don't know why the other suicidal people would try to hurt them self even try to kill them self. 🤷‍♀️
Sometimes I accidentally cut my self or sitting near high place ready to jump.

Buttt I know it won't solved the problem I just running away. The problem is the mind set I think? Suicidal person is someone who lost purpose in live and thinking that nothing is worth to fight for anymore.

Often take them outside to hangout, treat them like a normal person not some mental case person, show love and care even if it just a small gesture like pinch their check, pat their head, or even some compliment. Let them change by them self. You just need to guide him/her.

But, be careful if you do it in the wrong way you just gonna make them really depending on you lol

Immediately talk to their parents and enlist their aid. That is all you can do unless you think your friend is preparing to make a suicide attempt now and if that is the case, you should immediately call the police.

Try to talk them down and find out why. Maybe give them the suicide prevention hotline number. 800 - 273- TALK (8255). You may also call 911 and ask for an ambulance, not the police, as you never know if they may try to commit suicide by cop.

You can try to help your friend by giving them actual help before they actually think of killing themselves for real. Whatever you do make sure you do it respectfully and don't try to make your friend feel more terrible than they are already do.
