How can I stop my friend from being suicidal?

He called me 2 night ago saying he is thinking of killing himself and that he's so done with his life and just hates his life and work. Tonight he messaged me saying he can't take it anymore that he has so much body injury pain from muscle tore that needs surgery but that he has nobody now. I'm trying to tell him I care for him and that I understand his pain but that he should get surgery. He keeps saying everything is impossible. He said he feels hopeless and pushes everyone away. What is the best thing I can say?
