Why does San Francisco suffer with drug addiction and crime more than other large cities like Austin and New York?

A successful tech sector. San Francisco created AI, and a lot of the tech we use today. There is no reason San Francisco should have more social problems than normal.

I looked it up and the only major red flag I see is property crime for some reason. 78% whilst NY is 38%. Guess people are pissed about rent in San Fran.
