I've worked at different schools and they teach it. There is evidance of its being thought in the western world its not like they are hiding it..

Why they teach it is because they have desided its needed.

People in the comments who saying its not being thought doesn't really understand teaching. Teaching doesn't have to be the stereotypical way with a teacher infront of a board talking. It can be reading books about a transkid or asking kids what their prounonce are. I've seen it all..

It's not. It's occasionally mentioned. School prepares children for adult life. An estimated 14% of the population is LGBT+. They are going to meet these people. Some will be their classmates. It is important for them to not only be aware, but that they be able to live in harmony. That is why the topic is introduced at all.

Far-right extremists also keep making it a huge issue, causing it to have political and historical significance, furthering its academic value as a subject of discussion.

It's a part of a larger political agenda. Children are innocent and impressionable, and for whatever twisted reason, they want to corrupt them. It's similar to grooming and it's scary. If I had a young kid, I would be homeschooling them for sure. It's a real circus and BRAVO to any young person who questions the so-called curriculum that has NOTHING to do with a REAL education.

When I was in college, they were pushing the radical stuff but I was lucky that it was balanced out by the professors who were there to give me the SKILLS I needed to succeed in the world. Knowing about slavery, gender issues or queer issues isn't going to pay the rent. Nor will it pay the electric bill or put food on my table. Nowadays, an American education is a recipe for failure.

Some might argue the same reason religion is taught in schools but I was taught religion in school as a GCSE subject which covered the various different religion, history, beliefs, traditions, etymology etc not saying prayers and such
