This question isn't about dress codes for restaurants, it's about the dress code for the United States Senate. The last picture is Democratic senator John fetterman, and that's the way he dresses while in the Senate chambers.

I'll be honest, I don't support Fetterman at all, but I 100% support hoodie rights. 😁 Whoever said "clothes make the man", has been proven wrong by the slime walking around D. C. in multi-thousand dollar suits every day.

How can anyone say that wearing a designer suit "shows respect to the elected office which someone holds", while those people in suits lie, cheat and steal while in office? Their actions are what we should be judging their level of respect to the office by; not which designer they're currently wearing.

As someone who has suffered from senseless hoodie hate myself, I feel qualified to talk on the subject, and anyone who studies history would know that more criminals have worn suits than have ever worn a hoodie.

I'll keep it semi-brief, but I will say that if you're dining at a fancy restaurant, and you feel that someone wearing a hoodie will somehow ruin your experience, then you are part of the problem. Perhaps an elitist prick. Hoodie wearers often times will be the most well-mannered person in the establishment, but you're willing to judge them based solely on appearance and you think that's perfectly fine.

Why not let someone's actions be the determining factor in how you feel about them in those situations? Y'all really gonna say, "I need to be around people who look like me and dress as I do, or the experience is ruined"? A quick look at the history books will show you why that mentality can be an issue.

Let Fetterman wear what he wants. If a politician truly was trying to serve the American people, and everything thing they did, every law they fought for, was for the betterment of the people would you say "yeah but he's so disrespectful to his office because he wears a hoodie?

As opposed to, oh I don't know, a politician who constantly wears designer clothes, but is well known for insider trading, selling out the American people, and doing all sorts of shady stuff? To you, are those the actions of someone respecting the office?

When you own a business, you have the right to require things like a dress code. If you cannot simply be bothered to submit to that, then there are literally thousands of other restaurants that will allow you to come in practically any way you like. I know so many places from church, to schools, to jobs, that require a dress code, so can't really be "surprised" at his age.

The Senate dress code states: "Senators are able to choose what they wear on the Senate floor." If that is the dress code, then that is the dress code. The Senators however, have begun rallying against being able to just wear shorts and hoodies as being unprofessional and have the power to vote to change this new dress code just as they changed the fact that women weren't allowed to wear pants, or couldn't wear sleeveless dresses. We'll see how long that dress code holds...

Some places have dress codes. It seems pretty snobby to me, but I also see both sides. I hate dressing up, and would not like it if I couldn't go somewhere because of it. On the other hand, some people DO like dressing up, and want to be in that type of atmosphere. There is plenty of room for everyone, so to each their own.

There was a famous restaurant in Boston the had a dress code. That place is not in business anymore. Once people stop eating there they will either change their policies or else close the doors.

My uncle worked for a group of theaters. Not movie theaters but real live performance stages. He used to invite my brother and me to come in on a Saturday and see a play. We used to have to wear a coat and tie. This was the 80s. There is no dress code anymore.

They are not mean. It´s just inappropriate. There are dresscodes in place for certain areas in life and either you wear something appriopriate or you don´t. You don´t have to go to a fancy restaurant to get food you can go to a buger restaurant if you´re hungry.
A fancy restaurant is a lifestyle choice and therefore you should wear something suitable for the moment.
