Have you ever had people do favours/give you discounts/be nice to you because of how you look? Or the opposite mean/rude to you?

Pretty standard in retail. I rented a Charger SRT for 6 months while I was in training once. The place at the airport would only let me contract for 60 days at a time. Had to put down a 2k deposit because they were brand new or something. I'd actually reserved a compact, but they were all out on the lot so they gave me a free upgrade to the charger. I figured sure why not. The manager said since they messed up my reservation she'd give me a discount. I got the month for $800. It actually got surprisingly good mileage for around town driving. Anyway after my 60 days they told me I had to bring it in for service/checkout/fluids and get a new contract. I brought it in, she and I went to get coffee for a half hour while they... did stuff... whatever they do when you bring a car in. I got it back with a full tank of gas and they'd detailed the inside. Same thing happened 60 days later. My full out of pocket expense for 180 days with a fully loaded charger was like 798.20 or something right under 800. Even got my full deposit back when I turned it in for good.
I got a couple hundred knocked off a set of studs and cufflinks when I went to my brother's wedding and the airline lost my luggage so I had to buy new ones. Sales associate said I could get a big discount if I let her take me to dinner. Seemed a win-win. It was a win-win-win.
@msc545 i liked it. Got great gas mileage (for what it is) the trunk was super roomie which is a must for me. I had the paddle shifters, and their action was smooth and snappy with a good amount of travel. The one time I had to open it up it got to nearly 80 before I had to get out of first gear. The guy road raging at me for taking too long at the red light was pretty much left like he was stopped. I love my hatchback but I may pick up a charger when i stop moving around so much for work.
I used to really want one of those cars badly but of course I couldn't afford it and I was only 16 years old or maybe 15 or something. I'm glad you got a chance to drive this this car and had a good time with it. I think this car and perhaps the Corvette for two of my favorite rides if I could only just manage a riding one or two of them...
Yeah i think so. But the thing is. . i'm far from cute, have a rough appearance. It is ages ago we got a new HR employee which looked nice. when i got in our eyes crossed guessing what the other was thinking. She smiled.. and well pffff i tried to smile back. ( she made me shy as hell )
She called me over one day handed me a letter and there was that smile again and blushing
The letter saying she noticed me. She said i was on the wrong spot but was doing well anyway. She added 500 extra on my monthly income. ( got 6000 more in a year )
I never knew why. But for me it felt wrong and it took me almost a year to confront my boss. Told him it was to much and had the feeling not deserving it. He said what is done is done keep it...
3 months later i switched jobs... making less money...
On the other hand due my looks there are more than less situations. People look at me like they have me seen at sweden most wanted.
It is ine or the other. Never the " in between " 😁
Pretty privilege exists very much. You get spoken to better by all race, gender and age; better treatment too. Some people will listen to you simply because you are pretty (prime example being influencers and models). But definitely has its disadvantages when others are jealous because you are pretty and blocks your blessings because of it (like professional settings - women getting upset that the pretty girl doesn’t want to be their friend and you get reported to HR…)
I’m not a mind reader so I never know if it’s because of my looks or not unless they tell me. But some guy was nice and gave me an extra cider donut last week 💁♀️
Usually it’s old people saying I look sweet and they’ll give me more food or something. I don’t know about discounts because I’ve seen where people up charge then call it a “discount”.

Can't say as I can relate to anyone giving me a free pass based on looks. Though, some have instigated witch hunts on me about 20 years ago, possibly because I didn't meet their loony standards.
Glad I'm this many miles and years separated from that toxic subculture of crazy! But to be fair, even if the college crowd there today doesn't have that same sick in the head view of life and how to treat others, I don't envy what they have instead.
The state, gaslighting an entire city and nearby campus into feeling obligated to show support for an utterly asinine business "deal" the governor made with China - in which the locals accrue ALL the expenses, and gain ZERO benefits from it!
That would not have flown in my day, even with all the mindless, sex-crazed NPCs!
I think I have, but I don't know for sure. During a family vacation many years ago I would go to the office of the resort to rent movies for us to watch every night. There were always two people at the office. A young man and a young woman. When ever the woman was working I always got the impression that she was flirting with me and unlike the man she never charged me for the movies I rented. I asked her why the first time and she just gave me the smile and said "just because."
I didn't flirt back with her but I took full advantage of the free rentals.
yes, I don't think I'm conventionally attractive but I'm definitely not ugly. I have gotten discounted for things in the past. Mostly clothing or alcohol.
There was a guy that worked at my local Dunkin that would compliment me every time I came in and I would go more because of it so
I've had a number of people give me things and do nice things for me just because I was nice to them. Nobody's ever said anything about how nice I looked being the reason.
I've also had big fucking assholes do and say nasty shit to me just because they're big fucking assholes!!
I've been an errand boy and general lackey for so many beautiful women that I've practically lost count by now. And in every case, aside from being very attractive, the two other characteristics that cause me to just fall at her feet are if she's mean and verbally abusive to me, and if she has a boyfriend or male lover whom she's having sex with fairly frequently.
I have been offered (and accepted) discounts because I look ex-military and am. A little like him.
I get treated very poorly. Food is always made wrong, cold or came from waste bin. Dirty looks and dismissiveness, rude offensive comments, mocking and humiliating. We all know pretty people get good jobs great raises, opportunities, benefits, compliments, friendships and relationships. Gods favor rests on the beautiful and courageous.
thanks 4 the likes OP
Sounds like to me he is still making profit. Business is business. even if the woman decided to spread her legs to him. Unless he's a chump going to let that woman go away with a free oil change. That's funny 🤣. But still just like a woman that wants to be married to a man that she claims that she loves. She must not have no guy friend, not doing drugs, a believer, not being a hoe, has a job. Wants something out of life. Life is will make you women learn about things.
Let's see 5 quarts of oil cause $30 an oil filter is $4
So does the mechanic really think you're cute..
I think I would beware of somebody who thinks I'm cute and who says they're doing me a favor
My Porsche boxster costs about that amount of money for an oil change if I were stupid enough to take it to the dealer and have it done. At any place else except the Porsche dealer and oil change would be about 75 bucks since it takes about 10 quarts of oil and the oil itself is kind of expensive.
I've had friends take their car into a mechanics and the guy will tell them that they need a new motor or they need this part or that part and I will tell my friends know you don't they're just trying to rip you off... My friends end up selling me their car because they actually think that they need a new motor or something and for $20 part I'll have their car going and I give them one opportunity to buy it back but they have usually bought a new car by then it's crazy mechanics are just. most of them are ripoffs
No. If anything I just took advantages of deals present. The closest I got to this example was meeting a mechanic at a bar I go to who gives me a good rate if I need something patched up.
Yes I have , but honestly stuff like that doesn’t move me lol I’ll take whatever they are offering. I had a car detailer detail my call for half the price and gave me a twisted tea at my dealership
Honey, an oil change should only cost about US$40-US$50. $192 is a ripoff.
That popped also in my mind. 192 is way to much..
I’m sure I have 😮💨 Alas, the struggle with pretty privilege is real… 😂
I definitely have not based on my appearance, but I have had people try to do things for me because of what I do for work.
I don't think so. At least it wasn't apparent if they did.
As a guy who's been told I'm in the above-average category, it has more cons than pros.
when i was much younger, had that nice side for being "cute". now i get the opposite for even saying hi.
ONLY $192 for an oil change? 🤣 that lady got so ripped off. one time i had a lady cop let me off with a warning instead of a ticket cuz she was flirting with me.
Yeh sometimes. But I don't bother to anticipate favors.
I get special discount from condom seller because I'm her regular customer and she thought I'm good looking too. Lol.
