I am not a US citizen so I am not going to pick an option because of that.
Liberal has a couple of meanings to me
1. Willingness to accept different behavior or opinions to your own
Or
2. A political philosophy based on democracy, individual rights, civil liberties, ownership of property
The US seems to use Liberal in a different way to how we use it in Australia for example where it is the name of a conservative party.
I find the Left to be centered on Marxism. The beautiful thing about Marxism is that you can define an oppressed class of people and that immediately defines an oppressing class of people (white males usually) who you have to do something about so as to reduce their oppression of the first mentioned oppressed class.
Having done that you then get say how horrible the oppressing class is and how their privileges (earned from from hard work) need to be removed.
I would dearly like to understand better how Americans use Liberal if someone wouldn't mind explaining.
Sometimes I think Liberine might be meant. At other times it seems to be straight Marxist political thought which doesn't tolerate other views. Quite unliberal if you take my point..
LOL, you don't think the racist, corrupt, censoring, imprisoning people for political reasons, and generally abusing prosecutorial and law enforcement investigative power Biden Administration isn't a dictatorship?
You might want to take a look at the millions of useful idiots in the former Soviet Union and in China who thought they were "building Socialism". You would have been one of them.
Odd, you can't possibly be naive enough to think that the Democrats at the state and federal level don't conspire together. Either way, the prosecutions are utter crap and are only on political grounds.
Trump was charged in Georgia by the Fulton County DA, a Democrat. The county, which includes that highly conservative stronghold known as Atlanta, voted 72% for Biden in 2020 and has voted for a Republican only twice since the end of Reconstruction.
Reality is, the Democrats are the dictators. Listen to their rhetoric and look at all of the laws they are breaking in government. You may like the illegal stuff they do, like the human trafficking of illegals, but it's not the hallmarks of a regime that believes in the rule of law.
Don't play dumb. In what jurisdiction in Georgia was Trump charged? Fulton County, Georgia. 72% for Joe Biden, Democrats in charge, including the DA, Fanni Willis. Does that mean that Republicans charged Trump there? Not even a six-year-old would believe that.
But since you mention Republicans, surely you know that the governor of Georgia hates Trump, right?
And of federal employee donations to a political party, 95% went to the Democratic Party, so it's obvious the federal bureaucracy are de fact Democratic Party political appointees.
It's not 95%, and what do you expect of organisations whose members the Republicans want to put out of a job?
Instead of ad hominems, how about you explain how the indictments against Trump aren't valid? The courts are taking them seriously, even the one with Judge Cannon who is helping Trump as much as she can without risking impeachment.
@exitseven You mean the guy Bragg hired who used to work with Bragg in the New York Attorney General’s Office? He wasn't sent by the DoJ, he was hired by the NY DA.
"Prior to his appointment [as Acting United States Associate Attorney General, Jan 21 2021-April 22 2021], Mr. Colangelo served in the New York Attorney General’s Office as the Chief Counsel for Federal Initiatives and as Executive Deputy Attorney General for Social Justice. He has been a Distinguished Lecturer at the Georgetown University Law Center, and served in the Obama administration as a Deputy Assistant to President Obama and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council. Prior to that, he served as Chief of Staff to Department of Labor Secretary Tom Perez for three years, and as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the Department of Justice."

@exitseven yes, and not a conspiracy. Unless you’re looking for a conspiracy.
goaded, as usual, you lie about US politics:
freebeacon.com/.../
They donate to the Democratic Party because the federal government is primarily Democrats hiring other Democrats. They've always been Democrats, and a significant number of "public servants" were originally Democratic political appointees, meaning the federal government is majority Democratic Party hacks and leftist ideologues. Which explains a lot.
goaded, you should just go back to Green Party politics.
No, Odd, it's because they are leftist ideologues hired by other leftist ideologues, i. e., the leftist composition of the federal civilian workforce is the product of massive discrimination in hiring.
No one with half a brain thinks that Republicans would "drown government in the bathtub". Funny how that never happened when they controlled both houses of Congress from 1995 to 2001, 2003-2007 and 2015-2019, and when they controlled Congress and the White House.
So what's the next BS excuse? Oh, wait, you're the same leftist ideologue that claimed that "US conservatives sit on their butts", that US whites should have their citizenship stripped from them and that you want to enslave Republicans.
LOL, even if that were true (and coming from you, it almost certainly isn't), that is a tiny percentage of the federal workforce. Anyone with half a brain knows the federal workforce is almost entirely Democrats- note for example the vote totals for Democrats in the DC area and the donation figures for federal employees.
I hate to see where you get YOUR news from because I read some of the echo chambers of the left.
Nice link, shame it doesn't match your claim that 95% goes to Democrats. It's usually about 85%, and it shows Trump was particularly unpopular with the kind of educated people who work in government.

The problem is the far right who wants a dictatorship own all the media so this won't get much coverage beyond coverage beyond attempts to downplay it or even outright gaslight people with claims it isn't real. And that will work for the majority who is politically disinterested. They will see "the libs are exaggerating again" which will be all they need to hear to get back to ignoring politics once again.
This is not a dictatorship. It is cleaning up the government by getting rid of hundreds of unelected bureaucrats that impost their policies on the Anerican people. It is a necessary step to eliminate the expansion of federal powers that has been creeping up on us over the past 30 years.

@msc545 abortion for one thing. Eduaction another. Some states do not want drag queens and some states want school choice.. Election laws are written into each state's constitution for a reason. There should not be all the power concentrated in one city. Washington DC does not represent anybody except Washington DC
@DextroShade Do you have any understanding of the meaning of the term "civil rights" ?
Yup just be the party of fascism republicans and the American people will see how terrible you are and make sure you never win major elections ever again... except in those heavily gerrymandered districts that obviously go in your favor you cheats!
The Democrats have no one to blame for this but themselves: they have proven that they are such a threat to this country they can never be allowed in power again. They are jailing their political opponents and labeling people as terrorists just for supporting Trump. Also, look at what they have done with the border and every big city they control!
@Still-alive Only if enough reasonable people can be reached.
@Still-alive how is he going to win if he can't hide in his basement like he did last time? He can't even coherently string a sentence together, the economy is shit, and he sends billions to Ukraine while our citizens who need help in Hawaii get nothing after losing everything. He is losing in almost all recent polling to Trump, whose numbers go up the more they try to destroy him.
Yup. More b. s. tgeres no point in arguing with you
The only mention of a red caesar is from left wing sources.
Of course. It's not politically expedient to tell voters that you want to dismantle democracy before you have taken control of the voting apparatus.
Normal, pro-democracy election workers are being terrorised out of doing their jobs in a fair and impartial fashion. That leaves bad actors the chance to take over.
Laws are being passed to allow the currently elected (Republican) state legislatures to nullify the results of elections they don't like. In Texas, iirc, the law only applies to counties with over 3 million voters. There is only one county with over 3 million voters. Guess which way it votes.
@Juxtapose If you've terrorised respectable citizens out of doing the job of counting and replaced them with true believers like all the Republicans who cast votes for dead relatives, what difference would whether the votes are counted by hand or by machine make?
@Juxtapose Not really. Election officials, private citizens, have been hounded out of their homes by terrorists who believe Trump's lies. Trump and Guiliani lied about them and they were forced into hiding for years. Who wants to take on a job where that can happen to you?
It does, except that one of Trump's advisors literally wrote a book recommending it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Anton
From a review:
"Offering (as always) precise definitions, he points out that Caesarism is not tyranny, but one-man rule “halfway, as it were, between monarchy and tyranny.” It is monarchy not “legitimated by time and tradition.” But that does not make it illegitimate; “Caesars assume responsibility for a government that no longer functions."
theworthyhouse.com/.../
For some strange reason, neither points out that the reason "government... no longer functions" is because a minority have decided to ensure that's the case.
"Anton was Deputy Assistant to the President for Strategic Communications on the National Security Council under Trump. He is a former speechwriter for Rupert Murdoch, Rudy Giuliani, and Condoleezza Rice, and worked as director of communications at the investment bank Citigroup and as managing director of investing firm BlackRock."
Yeah, a left winger paid him to write a book recommending the end of American democracy. Jeez.
@Juxtapose So now you're reduced to just making shit up about me? No surprise.
@Juxtapose Of course it was, idiot. What proves you wrong is that I never ever said it was OK.
@Juxtapose Did they know he was a Nazi at the time, or just Ukrainian?
And you can f*ck right off with the "proud of you" crap when you've asserted something about me you'd simply made up.
It doesn't take a lot to figure out which side you are on if you are against the Russians during WW2. I am not a world leader and I could have figured that out pretty easily and if I was unsure for some reason then I would have resources at my disposal to find out. Wouldn't you want to research someone before giving them a standing ovation?
@Juxtapose Ukrainians fought for the Soviets in WWII, they were part of the USSR. It's not unreasonable to expect that a Ukraine veteran fought against the Nazis. It was wrong and a terrible mistake, but you can't say they intended to applaud a Nazi.
@Juxtapose Sorry, I don't believe you. There may have been records that he was, I don't believe someone stood up in parliament (or wherever) knowing that and called for an ovation.
"Responding to Mr Rota's statement, the Canadian Jewish group The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs said it appreciated the apology, adding that "proper vetting is imperative to ensure such an unacceptable incident does not occur again"."

Even if this is true, which I highly doubt I don't expect Republicans or Republican sources to be talking about it. The fact that Republicans aren't talking about it. Lends credibility to the people who do talk about it and to the entire story
Why do you doubt it? The Heritage Foundation is proud of it. Of course they spin eliminating the DoE as a good thing and student loan forgiveness as a bad one...
www.heritage.org/.../project-2025-publishes-comprehensive-policy-guide-mandate-leadership-the-conservative-promise
There is no evidence of this at all, this is a conspiracy theory
I thought conspiracy theories were bad
There is no evidence of this other than speculation
"no evidence" apart from the actual document, and the proponents saying they have "weaponised conservatives" ready and waiting to take over the executive branch.
"In the words of Paul Dans, its director, Project 2025 is “systematically preparing to march into office and bring a new army, aligned, trained, and essentially weaponised conservatives ready to do battle against the deep state”.
Such language may echo conspiracy-tinged rants by Trump and his supporters, but that “army” has produced something solid: Mandate for Leadership: the Conservative Promise, a 920-page document that sets out policy wishes across the breadth of the federal government."

They even got a website and are hiring.
https://www.project2025.org/
@disgustingweebtrash If you were convinced this project was real, would you still vote Republican? How about the Red Caesar desire for a "one-man rule “halfway, as it were, between monarchy and tyranny.” It is monarchy not “legitimated by time and tradition.” But that does not make it illegitimate."?
Do you want to be ruled, or do you want your country to be governed by people you can vote out?
DeSantis finally just got told by a court to do daily updates on covid for the next few years, rather than the lies he's been telling. Florida is manipulating its covid death numbers! ↗
Your Democrat idols are so smart. They are going to throw their support behind Biden for a second term, which almost guarantees them to lose.
So he's going to gut the deep state rats? Wonderful!
Drain the swamp completely.
Dude u gotta be a troll to even think Bidden has a second term at all hahaha stop it
Probably fake news if we can’t find any right leaning sources talking about it.
We can’t trust leftards unless they say something megative about leftards.
