How do you feel about Israel's gun control? Do you think it affected the death toll for Israel?

It isn't my country so I'm not passing any judgement. And what has happened in Israel was horrific. But after watching the news for the past week and hearing how Hamas went house to house killing people. I tried to put myself in that position. And I thought to myself that couldn't happen to same extent in my country. Because Hamas would be met with bullets from start point go if they tried. So I'm respectfully asking whether you think if Israel had less strict gun laws the death toll might have been lower for Israel.

I wondered as well. Im sure if every isreali was armed theyd had a better chance… especially near the wall.


The fedtival should have armed guards. Anyone near that wall should have fire power bearby.


Add to it… it was a holiday and the military appears to have been awol or at low levels. They caught them with their pants down.

It was a surprise attack, it was well planned and had well trained well armed men in numbers. Even if there were 3000 Israeli soldiers guarding it they would have struggled against a surprise attack of 1000 strong well armed Hamas troops.

@strateguy632 30 miles is nothing. They've a whole host of watch towers, sensors and drones. Israel has been able to keep refugees,& economic migrants out of Israel no problem for decades.

In Las Vegas it's legal to open carry a handgun or rifle but in 2017 a guy shot up a country music festival killing 60 and wounding 400. My point is if your at a party or music festival having a good time you aren't going to be carrying and even if you were a surprise attack with guys with AK47s is hard to combat, emphasis on the surprise.

people with gun license are trusted, they had that 4 day check. this music was raided by arab terrorists. maybe if they carried pistols the israel would shoot back and stop the terrorist instead of a long wait for police or army.

Rockets. But they weren't using them when they were going door to door. And I'm not disputing the fact that they'd have superior firepower. But if you're facing certain death I would think it'd be preferable to go down swinging.

As far as I know Israelis are allowed a handgun with 50 rounds, I always thought in Israel If you were part of the IDF as most are you could keep a fully automatic m16, M4, gali or FAL. I mean they draft everyone for at least two years service so there's plenty of trained riflemen. In the latest attack it should have been a matter of every household reaching into their gun cabinet for their M16 and putting on their kevlar. A glock with 50 rounds would be OK but not ideal, in a situation like that I would try to retreat to a position where I could see them coming and unload on them with my glock so I could pick up an Ak.

@Drewtate My thoughts exactly. I'll admit you clearly know much more about the specifics than me. I've only read that Irael's gun rights were fairly strict. With what you say it doesn't sound that strict. I might have to do more looking into this. But yes, this is exactly my point. It's a whole northern matter when the target shoots back.
