But as much as Turkey is a bit of a sham in terms of democracy, the core reason it hasn't been allowed into the EU proper is the turmoil that surrounds it making other nations reluctant.
Also, it doesn't really help that Erdogan is an insecure, vain little fellow with a chip on his shoulder and the need to throw his weight around. So probably not while he is at power.
Turkey is effectively a pseudo-member as is though.
Would most europeans still be against the idea of turkey joining Eu
Also, Do europeans dislike turkey and they don't want turkey in Eu because of turkey being muslim Asian and the centuries of wars and hostility between turks and europeans
It depends on how far west a European country is.
The closer ones like Slovenia, Bulgaria and so on tend to strongly dislike Turkey.
People from further away tend to not know much about it.
People more into politics will of course not be huge fans.

Erdogan clan is one reason but the main reason why EU and Turkey stopped integration process is agriculture. Turkey wanted same level subsides for food production like France or Germany but it wasn't financially bearable for EU and ratification process stopped.
If Turkey wasn't Muslim, it most likely would have been accepted already. They're luck to even be in NATO. They need to choose what's more important to them, the EU or their god.
