Yes and Sherman did that. Like Hiroshima, it’s debated and argued. I think it ended a stalemate of a war long before it would have. Sherman caused so many of Lee’s army to go home.
Hell the whole war was West Point confederate generals playing real life war as Union soldiers were basically trying to keep a country together.
