Am I right to refuse?

We have a neighbor an old lady asking me to wash her clothes using only one soap and will pay $4.00 and she wants my own water and electricity in washing machine in my house to wash her clothes. I refused because electricity is expendive water too and then her pay is only $4.00 in my country it should be at least $10.00 I live in Asia. So I said its not profitable for me because when I wash her clothes I will be using my own electricity and she's very cheapskate to use only one soap.

Yeah, I don't blame you for refusing that offer. $4 is definitely way too cheap for using your own electricity, water and machine. Like you said, it's probably gonna cost way more than that just in bills. And only using one soap? No way, that's definitely not enough. Sounds like the old lady is just being super cheap and trying to take advantage. I wouldn't wanna do it either if I'm not making a fair profit. You did the right thing standing your ground. Maybe if she offered a way higher price that actually covered your costs it would be different. But $4? No way, not worth it at all. Its actually at least $14.00 per day here but since she's not rich I expect at least cheaper salary like at least $10.00 but then she's very cheap no way Id do that lol

This old lady gotta understand, you taking time outta your day to do her laundry - that's valuable! Gotta make it worth your while. And like using your own supplies, power, water? Come on now.

Plus just sounds like a pain in the ass if she's demanding all these rules about only using one soap and stuff. Not worth the hassle for $4!

Don't sweat it dude, she's just being cheap. There's no way you should do that kind of favor for less than the neighborhood rate. You gotta stand up for your time and resources.

Maybe tell her straight up: "$14 per day or nothing" and see what she says. But honestly probably better to not even bother with how picky she's being about it. Your call - she needs to earn that laundry service!

You should be able to refuse it or if you want to do it under your terms explain what your terms are. I know it can be hard I've had to tell old people that I can't help them with things but have to set limits for who you help and how much or you'll spread yourself too thin.

I dont have clothes washing business. But I was at her house because her house was at the end of the street and near the bus stop and I just happen to sit next to her in front of her house and she was like offered me to wash her clothes. But then its about $4.00 average salary here is $14.00 a day even in regular jobs in company. Thats the minimum. No way Id accept it.
