I do admire the founding father's, the militia and the American revolutionary army standing up to the British but they were more or less on an equal footing with the average redcoat both armed with muskets, with cannon and with cavalry.
Today it's much different. The average gun owner might have an AR15 type or battle rifle in 5.56 or 7.62 and maybe some body armor but that's it. That's not going to stand up to an mobile column of the US army with a CROWs system on top of every vehicle. CROWs can mount any machine gun the us has along with grenade, mortar and rocket launchers. It's has telescopic sight, night vision, thermal optics, motion sensors and thanks to computer assisted targeting can fire more accurately at range than a sniper can. That's not counting drones of all shapes and sizes. The US infantry man is getting a massive upgrade in the form of the XM7 firing a new 6.8mm round meant to punch through body armor. The 6.8mm round is to have plastic casing making it lighter meaning an infantry man can carry 3 times as many. They are also each getting a new smartscope which will have features like night vision, thermal vision, assisted targeting, telescopic sight etc all linked to the digital battlefield, meaning every other soldier is shown your postion. I haven't even mention artitilley, drones, tanks and so on.
Whole new ball game.
Most gun owners are vastly overweight like most Americans, the only people with any training are ex military and some police.
What you are describing is a fantasy. If the US government turned the military on the people most military personnel would stand down, otherwise it would be a case of what happened in Iraq where eventually the us military stopped going door to door clearing out buildings and just leveled the buildings with the insurgents inside.

If the us government made gins illegal next door the vast majority of gun owners not being criminals would hand them in rather than face jail or the freezing of their bank account to, seizure of property, canceling of passports and driving licence, canceling insurances, seizing pensions , seizing vehicles, stopping your kids going to college etc.

If you watch the j6 tapes, the army marched on the crowd. The crowd pleaded with the army, but the army did not care. The crowd said things like, “you’re supposed to be on our side, we supported you.” Meaning, they supported the blue and military. After they realized that the military would not stand down, they started to hurl insults at the army marching at them.

hell yeah I am prepared. got my own houses all stocked with food and secured from intruders. have been working on getting solar panels and wells installed for my properties so I have water and power. in the event shtf vehicles are liable to become useless quite rapidly so I have a few different methods of travel horses, bike, walking, all my properties are walled as well

Personally, I find hoarding stuff to be ''prepared'' to be useless - no matter how big one's storage is: sooner or later it will all be used up.
My own ''prepping'' happens in my head: I know how to make stuff, fix stuff and grow plants.
I already do that on a small scale. In addition I abstain from consumerism.
When a ''prepper's'' store runs out... I may trade some more to him/her/it/whatever.

For a ''Postman Scenario'', and in the meantime I may just loot things from those who didn't make it.
That isn't stealing, but 'recycling'.
