Second, is the USA a Democracy? If not, what is it?
Third, How is DJT a threat to Democracy in general?

Based on your former posts, you're mocking an awful lot here, so I'm not going to indulge that. Any beginning civics student or person who can think knows the USA has never been a "Democracy" in the true sense of word - not for one minute of one day. We're a representative Republic and there's zero requirement OR guarantee that those elected to represent the populace will legislate according to the wishes of said populace.

The only recourse in that case is to vote them out of office, but by then laws can be in place to greatly restrict or remove any freedoms and privileges you expected, or were promised, by you Republic's charter. Therein lies the danger, as that is what has BEEN happening, and is continuing to happen, and is outlined to happen in Project 2025.

Simply put, that is what the billionaires who actually run this country have always done covertly, but now they don't care if it gets done openly. Why? Because social media has lifted the veil of how things run here, so why try to hide it anymore? They're trying to with book bans, fake history and re-writing history, attacking marginalized groups, etc. However, it's easier just to pervert the government into some form of autocracy on the surface so they've now decided, which is what DJT and the idiot GOP represent.

DJT is perfect foil and puppet for the job because of his narcissistic disorder, but his strings will be pulled by his master's while he thinks he's in control. All of this and the idiots who want to bring it about are a threat to the few freedoms we have left in the USA, but I'd rather have those few freedoms than live in a dystopian Gilead. DJT represents the worst humanity has to offer, and the fact that so many cowered before him to get votes, or still support him, is a threat to end the USA, with all its' faults, and replace it with SOMETHING MUCH WORSE!

The United States is a federal republic and always has been. Yet, in modern times everyone calls it a democracy not even knowing what that means. They think the electoral college is a usurper of their rights rather than a protector of them. They vote with their feelings rather than becoming informed, and that's why we're in the mess we're in now. The USA is a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy. If it were a democracy you wouldn't have the electoral college, just a straight vote, most votes wins.

No democracy in history has lasted without descending into a dictatorship. Some took longer than others, but they always fall.

America looks to be tearing itself apart. Fuckwittery in the cities where they think meat comes from a store and have no idea what farming is against the countryside dwellers who grow their own food.

Sooner or later it'll explode. Democrats - mostly - don't seem to understand that if you live in the countryside it's important to be able to shoot the bear that's trying to kill you.

The U. S. is not a Democracy. It is a Republic in which law makers are democratically elected (theoretically).

I don't see how Trump is a threat to Democracy. He wasn't in his first term. It was only Democrats who acted threatened. In reality, he was no worse than a lot of presidents, and better than many, including Dubya, Obama and Biden.

He seems to have a high regard for our Constitution. Dubya destroyed it, Obama continued the destruction, and Democrats disdain it. I think Trump is out best chance at maintaining our Constitutional system of government.

Democracy is majority rule. The US is a Constitutional Republic that utilize democratic elections. Trump isn't trying to keep anyone off the ballot so he is not a threat to our democratic elections. He seems more interested in dismantling the deep state that seems hell bent on violating the constitutional principles that keep us free. So I would consider him someone who is trying to restore the government to our Constitution than someone who is trying to destroy it. However, I don't trust that once he finishes dismantling the deep state that he won't try to fill the vacuum of power with his own control.

Trump is a threat to Democracy, so we have to destroy Democracy to save Democracy. You have to stop thinking of Red and Blue like Republicans and Democrats. It's not good when you don't accept the outcome of an election. The peaceful transfer of power is what has always held this country together. Once you start questioning an election, there's going to be questions after every election like a banana Republic

It's also not good when there is astonishingly poor accountability of elections, and when states pass laws that REMOVE verification and accountability. Verification and accountability need to be INCREASED if people are going to trust the outcome of elections, not decreased.

In several states, I can legally go to, say, a retirement home, and collect mail-in ballots from all the residents, and mail them all in. Of course, during that process, there's little to prevent me from ILLEGALLY filling out all of the ballots that weren't filled in, and no one is going to check, and even if they do, in several of those states, they have to accept the ballot even if the signatures aren't even close to a being a match. Who in the world would make such laws if they were trying to keep their elections honest?

in my opinion, mail-in ballots (which are different from absentee ballots, and run under a different process with different rules) should be illegal. Absentee ballots must be specifically requested by the voter, and are tracked much more stringently, while mail-in ballots are mass-mailed without being requested, or even known about, by the voter, and the rules for accepting them are extremely "lenient", making them incredibly easy to harvest and cheat. That's WRONG - and, yet, are the law in a number of states.
