Anyone really think if you would not help Ukraine then that money would go to fix America internal problems? 61% percent of help which United States is providing to Ukraine, are MILITARY equipment. How keeping that equipment in US help YOUR everyday life? And giving away those weapons also helps america- because guess what - those weapons also have so called "expiration date" so army need to get rid of them anyway. So they give them to Ukrainians so they can protect themselves. More that on here https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-ato/3809140-us-should-send-ukraine-atacms-rockets-even-past-expiration-date-hodges.html
And anyone who think Europe "do not give not enough help". EU institutions have gave over 79 billion dollars to Ukraine
Here is by GDP. https://www.cfr.org/article/how-much-aid-has-us-sent-ukraine-here-are-six-charts

you do realize you are going out of your way to do mental gymnastics right? sure lets say those weapons have an expiration date and they were going to be "thrown" away anyway. The whole point is the priorities of the US is ass backwards increasing the military budget in 2023 by 817 Billion dollars to replace and manufacture more weapons that as you gracefully pointed out will fucking expire throwing money down the fucking drain or worse actually using those weapons to murder other human beings and destroy their country. Instead of actually expanding social services so the American people and working class actually got some fucking help during the pandemic. Please tell me you are able to comprehend this point...

the only thing that would drive a person to war is poverty just look at Germany and the atrocities the German people committed out of desperation and poverty. The only thing that feeds war is war itself like a fire that consumes everything until there is nothing left. So think twice before you advocate for a bigger army Jesse

+1 yYes- and the answer is quite simple: it's more profitable, in wealth and power, to fund foreign wars and dictators than to fix our crumbling infrastructure or serve our citizenry. Why do they get away with it? Remember- carve into the stone of your mind- the following statistic: in 1980, 90% of American media was owned by just fifty companies. Today, that same 90% is owned by FIVE. That level of consolidation lets you manipulate public perception in way that Hitler or Stalin could only dream of. As an added bonus, the spread of the internet means that many intelligent people are absolutely convinced that they're immune to propaganda and brainwashing, so they don't even try to verify things.
Consequently, you get: "Vote for me! My opponent wants to [something about transsexuals, poorly thought out environmental programs, economic theories that were debunked in the sixteenth century, etc.]!" and the real issues get ignored.

+1 yWell, only the US government can supply US weapons to our allies. But charities and the people who donate can send money and resources to the homeless and needy in our own country and abroad. So this question isn't logical. The US government helps our allies mainly, because they believe in freedom. It's why we need to make sure fat Trump never gets elected again. He prefers the dictators (like Putin) who support autocracy.

@Amur8711 " Trump wouldn't have let Putin invade Ukraine" ... this is a hilarious statement. LOL A Fox News echo chamber. God, what stupidity. Not only would Putin not give a shit what ANY American President would say about his invasion, but Trump would have HELPED Putin any way he possibly could have!! LOL Trump not "LET" Putin do something? Trump is the puppet, dude, not the other way around.
- +1 y
@loveslongnails Wrong! Putin wanted to invade when Trump was president but never did. When did he? When Biden got in office.
I don't watch Fox News. - +1 y
@Amur8711 Wrong! Putin was hoping Trump would win re-election and dissolve NATO and weaken the United Nations. Trump talked about it all the time. If that happened, Putin could have rolled into Ukraine during Trump's 2nd term with little resistance. Why do you think Russian trolls keep defending Trump 24/7. Trump is the President RUSSIA wants. When Trump didn't win, Putin, who had been planning taking Ukraine for years, had no choice but to do a full military invasion. That's the real reason, my cultist friend. :)
- +1 y
I like your anti-Trump/GOP stance cutebutt, but this; " The US government helps our allies mainly, because they believe in freedom, " is completely naive. Last time I checked, supporting genocide wasn't the same as supporting freedom, nor was having the CIA overthrow governments you didn't and installing your own leaders.
Please don't go on a patriot rant or some such thing, because that stuff is all documented and factual. It's not a debate, and it's not about individual citizens. It's just something the US has done, and does, and we need to recognize it and deal with it. - +1 y
@loveslongnails I am saying that currently, the US is supporting freedom. In Ukraine, in Israel. We support Taiwan's freedom. Things have happened in the past that were stupid, like the Vietnam War and the Iraq war. But currently, I am fully supportive of any aid that goes to squash Russia, China, or twisted terrorists like Hamas. :) I am on the side of freedom. Fat Trump is on the side of autocrats and he praises them constantly. If you like that, vote for Trump.
- +1 y
@supercutebutt as I recall Trump just wanted to pull the US out if NATO so we aren't having to flip the bill for everyone else's security. Do I think we should no. He also was pushing to get the other countries to step up on paying their share.

I am actually leery of Trump because the lefts going to do everything possible to stop anything he tries even if its something they want themselves.

Excuse me girl, but Israel is not fighting for freedom, defending freedom or even ENCOURAGING freedom amongst their own people. Do you not go deeper into the news? Israel has detained professors from their universities who DARE to discuss things that don't support the State's apartheid programs. They have caused people to lose their jobs for having free and open discussions. The IDF has detained children of these people, and intimidated and threatened their wives and daughters.
You also need to do research on Hamas, and how and why it was formed. No, I'm not condoning ANY terrorist actions, including Israel's. We differ because somehow, you seem to think Israel had every "right" to impose the nakba from 1948 until now. You are willing to turn a blind eye to everything Israel has done in the past 75 years as well.
So know this - the US is on the wrong side of this and has been since '48, to no surprise. That doesn't mean Russia is right. I support the Ukranian effort. You should also realize that fat Trump, while loving dictators, also loves Netanyahu's terrorism and appetite for destruction and annihilation, far more than Biden does which is already too much.
Your comment about "voting for Trump" is ridiculous, and you should know better than to throw that shit at me. - +1 y
@loveslongnails I am against Islamic extremism in every way. Their terrorists believe if they die for their imaginary god while killing Jews, they will be rewarded with 72 virgins in the afterlife. Give me a break. There is no sense even trying to rationalize with that that mindset. Hamas must be squashed. You can listen to the recorded phone calls of the twisted terrorist calling home to mom and dad on October 7th, all excited that they murdered Jewish mothers and children and the parents praising them, calling them heroes and martyrs. They are disgusting excuses for human beings.
- +1 y
You have NO idea why, or how, or when Hamas came about, do you? You have NO idea how many IDF soldiers danced with glee when killing Palestinians, murdering Arab mothers and children. You live in a bubble thinking that this has been a one way system. I truly expected more from you. Please go research how Hamas came about.
Give you a break? You're talking bullshit. You're trying to make a case that the average Muslim believes your radical 72 virgins garbage. You're sounding like an idiot now. Then you talk about "imaginary Gods". Is Islam's imaginary God any different than Judiasm's imaginary God? For fuck's sake, I truly expected better from you.
YOU can listen to the CALLS of everyone killed or displaced since 1948. Do you think Oct. 7th is any more or less horrific than the 75 years of Israeli torture? Wake up to this, just like you've woken up to Trump. You apparently don't really know WHO ALL the disgusting excuses for human beings are. I'm really shocked at you right now. - +1 y
@loveslongnails Everyone who believes in magic is stupid. But only some are also evil. And you are right, not all Muslims believe in 72 virgins. Just half. The half who are male.
- +1 y
What's your definition of "magic"? I'm sure it differs from mine when it comes to an esoteric understanding. "Magic" is neither good nor evil.
Also, when did you become an expert on Islam? A cursory examination on the web, by people who study it for a living, all confirm that's nonsense and it was created by radical Islamists as a reward for martyrdom. I did find a story where Osama bin Laden told his followers that anyone who dies in the service of Allah is a martyr and they'll receive such a reward. Believe me, I'm no fan of Islam, but that was easy to debunk.
You usually stick to facts, not fear, so I hope you continue to do so.

The budget they spend on Arms and defense (it's war budget) is in trillion + USD which if they spend on their own country's people they could get rid of housing shortage, free medicine for people, high rises like the UAE and even build like intercontinental transmission lines to make Solar energy free to use around the globe by spreading them across the globe.
Can you imagine US government have led the world into an era of relative peace if only they used that money for something constructive for once.
Even in Israel Palestine conflict, 2.2 million people could easily have been given land by expanding into the sea and make it less about the land. 1/3 of earth is land while other is water and using a massive budget could have made way for the future for lots of people 😄.

Oppresses the world my ass. You wanna talk oppression then let me introduce you to Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.
European defense is dependant entirely on American logistics and Intelligence gathering. The US provides the most funding to NATO and the UN by an enormous margine. Global shipping lanes are protected by American warships. The US contributes, by another enormous margine, the most humanitarian aid world wide in the vein of 34 billion dollars.
All of it funded by our tax dollars. Americans across the board would be more than happy to stop all of that tomorrow and worry about only ourselves.
But we all know what happened the last time we kept to ourselves and let everyone else figure their own problems out: World War 2 happened.
We've been keeping global dictators and tyrany at bay for 80 years and we're tired of it. - +1 y

Think about America for a moment:
Majority of people can't afford decent healthcare
Educational institutions in the poorest areas are woefully underfunded
The result: people who are depressed, sick and uneducated.

I'm not American, just friends with quite a few guys who served in the Marine Corps and Army in the US and Army, Royal Air Force and Navy in the UK. Granted my age may be a factor. Most of the enlisted guys I knew from both countries were from lower income backgrounds while the officers - especially in the British forces - were from pretty well off families.
Best guys I ever knew were a baker in Devon who was a retired US Marine and an engineer who was a retired Royal Navy Officer. Probably the most honourable guys I ever met.
While the demographic in the forces may have changed, my comment in the shape of the image stands. It's a universal constant. Keep the voters sick and uneducated and you can rule them forever because they'll believe everything you say.
I'm living in South Africa at the moment and state healthcare is a joke and public education is such that 30 years after it ended there's still people who believe Apartheid is why their schools are overcrowded and falling apart when the reality is the ANC hasn't invested a cent to support education since Mandela left office in 1999 where it could make an actual difference.

2.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Without diving too much into that (i aim to avoid politics altogether) as terrible as it seems, the war in Ukraine can be considered a proxy war concerning national security, which means if the war can't be contained within Ukraine (and probably Israel too), the USA and their NATO allies lose a foothold and their first line of defense from being invaded too.
It happens so that Ukraine is the first body in this conflict and Israel second. The funds go there rather than for domestic matters, although I have strong suspicions, that there are those secret society members, who really rule the nation, that sack in money for themselves and let politicians be their public faces.
00 Reply11.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Wars with other countries and friendly agreements with other countries that are involved in wars are designed to allow US corporations to trade with those countries and most importantly to sell weapons to them. On some occasions the US has promoted wars between countries in order to have the opportunity to sell weapons in other goods to at least one of them. The good at example of this at this time is Ukraine and Russia, a war that the US deliberately provoked in order to have the opportunity to sell weapons. The Ukraine. Weapons are very big business in the US and the US might be the largest exporter of weapons in the entire world. The US government spends lots of tax dollars on this, but the truth is that the money that comes back to private weapons manufacturers is much greater. US also starts wars of its own like in Vietnam , Iraq, and Afghanistan specifically for the purpose of creating a market for its weapons.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yIt happens because of the structure of the US mentality. A large section of the US doesn't want the government to fund education, healthcare, or social infrastructure as they believe that that will make them lazy. Nor do most people want the country to be better as US philosophy promotes individualism and that also fuels capitalism. So the government has excess money that it can't spend on its people. Why not just spend it on foreign policies and wars, by that they still can gain influence over the region and sell US products, either as weapons or supplies.
00 Reply551 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Because of budgets. Security, medical, and social services etc will always be more than homeless aid etc
if people were able to solve homelessness by now they would’ve been able to do it. It’s just how the government is set up and I think new bills need to be passed for a federal ruling instead of states being in charge of homelessness bc more states will do more for those communities
