Yes- and the answer is quite simple: it's more profitable, in wealth and power, to fund foreign wars and dictators than to fix our crumbling infrastructure or serve our citizenry. Why do they get away with it? Remember- carve into the stone of your mind- the following statistic: in 1980, 90% of American media was owned by just fifty companies. Today, that same 90% is owned by FIVE. That level of consolidation lets you manipulate public perception in way that Hitler or Stalin could only dream of. As an added bonus, the spread of the internet means that many intelligent people are absolutely convinced that they're immune to propaganda and brainwashing, so they don't even try to verify things.

Consequently, you get: "Vote for me! My opponent wants to [something about transsexuals, poorly thought out environmental programs, economic theories that were debunked in the sixteenth century, etc.]!" and the real issues get ignored.

Anyone really think if you would not help Ukraine then that money would go to fix America internal problems? 61% percent of help which United States is providing to Ukraine, are MILITARY equipment. How keeping that equipment in US help YOUR everyday life? And giving away those weapons also helps america- because guess what - those weapons also have so called "expiration date" so army need to get rid of them anyway. So they give them to Ukrainians so they can protect themselves. Well, only the US government can supply US weapons to our allies. But charities and the people who donate can send money and resources to the homeless and needy in our own country and abroad. So this question isn't logical. The US government helps our allies mainly, because they believe in freedom. It's why we need to make sure fat Trump never gets elected again. He prefers the dictators (like Putin) who support autocracy.

Take Ukraine. They are buying us weapons with loan money the us gave them. Its like when you take out a bank loan, there's a certain amount of intrest you have to pay back.

The budget they spend on Arms and defense (it's war budget) is in trillion + USD which if they spend on their own country's people they could get rid of housing shortage, free medicine for people, high rises like the UAE and even build like intercontinental transmission lines to make Solar energy free to use around the globe by spreading them across the globe.

Can you imagine US government have led the world into an era of relative peace if only they used that money for something constructive for once.

Even in Israel Palestine conflict, 2.2 million people could easily have been given land by expanding into the sea and make it less about the land. 1/3 of earth is land while other is water and using a massive budget could have made way for the future for lots of people 😄.

Bottom line, we're sick to death of watching our tax dollars flying overseas to fund everyone else but us.

Europe enjoys social programs that Americans can only dream of while they live under the security umbrella that we paid for.

The things we could have fixed at home the the 116 billion dollars we sent to Ukraine alone.

No one supports the US the way the US supports everyone else.

It's easier. The US can get rid of it's own poor - most footsoldiers tend to be from impoverished areas - and look like the morality police for "freedom" while they're systematically undermining those freedoms in their own borders.

Think about America for a moment:

Majority of people can't afford decent healthcare
Educational institutions in the poorest areas are woefully underfunded

The result: people who are depressed, sick and uneducated.

Without diving too much into that (i aim to avoid politics altogether) as terrible as it seems, the war in Ukraine can be considered a proxy war concerning national security, which means if the war can't be contained within Ukraine (and probably Israel too), the USA and their NATO allies lose a foothold and their first line of defense from being invaded too.

It happens so that Ukraine is the first body in this conflict and Israel second. The funds go there rather than for domestic matters, although I have strong suspicions, that there are those secret society members, who really rule the nation, that sack in money for themselves and let politicians be their public faces.

US also starts wars of its own like in Vietnam , Iraq, and Afghanistan specifically for the purpose of creating a market for its weapons.

I don’t wonder. First, we never intended America to be a welfare state which sustains the lazy, addicted, and entitled. Second, we tried twice to sit out the problems of the world and both times catastrophic World Wars started behind our isolationism. Also keep in mind that the large majority of money spent by the military goes to salaries - in other words it's spent on the people also.

It happens because of the structure of the US mentality. A large section of the US doesn't want the government to fund education, healthcare, or social infrastructure as they believe that that will make them lazy. Nor do most people want the country to be better as US philosophy promotes individualism and that also fuels capitalism. So the government has excess money that it can't spend on its people. Why not just spend it on foreign policies and wars, by that they still can gain influence over the region and sell US products, either as weapons or supplies.

if people were able to solve homelessness by now they would’ve been able to do it. It’s just how the government is set up and I think new bills need to be passed for a federal ruling instead of states being in charge of homelessness bc more states will do more for those communities

California alone spends billions on the homeless every year but most of that money is lost to corrupt non-profits and the number of homeless just keeps increasing. We should just put them in state-run asylums like we used to until dumb shit Ronald Reagan dumped the contents of the asylums on the streets. A lot of these deranged homeless would also benefit from antipsychotics or lobotomies as well.

All the time actually... I think because its a win win for the people in control. The arms dealers make a ton of money from the insanely huge military budget in the US and all the employers have a huge reserve of desperate unemployed workers willing to work in harsh conditions for as little pay as possible and politicians get tons of money through lobbying to keep things the same or remove even more social safety nets
